That is an error code. Unplug unit. Wait 5 mins. Depending on what you are doing hot/cold smoke, make sure everything is clean, dry, and set up properly, cup, lid, pot seated and arrow lined up etc.

Yes it does a pressure smoke and a cold smoke, I have done mozzarella cheese and jalapeño peppers on the cold smoke, not a fan of salmon, but that can be done as well. This is a great device.

Has anyone put food in the bottom of the pot without using the racks?

I have not. I only use this for smoking and pressure smoking so my food has been racked.
