Bannetons are used for rising your dough while providing the loaf with shape and wicking moisture from the crust.  Don't bake the bread in the basket. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well made and a good deal

After getting a couple of smaller ones, that I somehow didn't realize were going to be too small, I exchanged for these. I searched quite a while and found these to be among the least expensive, but they're well made and work great.My recipe makes 2 loaves about 1.5 lb each after baking:  3 cups (750 g) of water, 7 cups (1 kg) of flour

I would give it 3.5 but rounded up. I liked the oval less then the round but it's nice to have both. It's a bit smaller then I expected and I can't put the full weight of the bread I wanted to make, so next time I'll definitely get a bigger one. Also I kept it for a while in a plastic bag and it stated growing moldy. I wiped it clean and since then only air stored it and it's fine. I'm not sure why but the round one always has better results. Also I don't use the fabric on top, but nice to have...

I like this size of Banneton for my everyday bread which is about 550 gm/loaf. It produces a loaf that makes perfect sandwich size slices.I decided to use this over the couche because these take up less space, are portable and fit in my proofing box. There is also less handling involved in getting the loaf onto the baking stone so I get better oven spring.
