When it finally died, I replaced it with one just like it bought here on Amazon. That was about three years ago and it is working fine. Easy install and set up. I think I had to call for a program sequence once the controller was mounted, but that was easy to do also. My impression is that the 40,000 gallon rated model doesn't have to work as often or as hard on a smaller pool, and therefore lasts longer. So, it costs a little more up front to buy, but you save money because it lasts years longer. And, because it doesn't have to be on as many hours a day, it uses less electricity than the smaller units. So, that is another savings. Just my opinion, and my experience.
