Genuine Mazda (N3R1-14-302) Oil Filter Cartridge

I run this on my 2011 STI. Tokyo roki make an excellent filter. Same as the black Subaru filters. Slightly bigger too.

When I bought my Subaru the seller was a real wizard with Subarus and he recommended this filter. I change my own oil and I don’t need any tools. I just hand tighten. I’m a gen x lady and just recently learned to do this. It’s so easy. The filter is very high quality, sealed, well packed, and simple to use.

I use for my 2008 Subaru Outback, same model they use in Japan for the Subarus. Slightly taller than US oem one, holds bit more oil.

These were the oem subaru filters before they switched to the lower quality blue ones.

Well in other words. Your oil capacity improves due to a bigger, better filter and this filter is THISTY. Just how I like them. I was able to fully fill it up 4 times. Yes 4. I've never seen a filter media soak that much oil before installing it. I did realize that this may cause my oil level to jump up a few days later when the oil eventually seeps away from the filter media though haha No biggie really. Anyone who owns a WRX knows that oil goes decently fast in them but only when you drive them hard. If you don't drive them hard, before this filter I always only lose about half a dip stick of oil by the time it's oil change at 3200-3400 miles. I actually extend a little more now to almost 3800 because I use the best oil Motul.

This is the exact OEM oil filter for the S2 RX8! It comes in the Mazda dealer packaging as well, you shouldn't have any leakage as long as you aren't overtightening the filter or accidentally double stacking the filter gaskets, always double check. The cost is great at $13 a filter, I prefer the OEM filter over any other aftermarket filter options.

Great product. Using these in my Subaru STI. It comes with a washer for a Mazda oil pan (obviously) but the filter itself fits the STI perfectly and has more capacity than the OEM filter. Just need to buy some washers that will fit the STI oil pan. Will definitely be buying more of these in the future.
