Maybe my favorite Amazon purchase ever…..
This kennel is legit amazing!! I am so glad we found it! I think it may be my favorite Amazon purchase ever, but most definitely the best purchase of 2024. We take our little, old kitty (Jill) along with us when we travel. She’s in end stage kidney disease and needs daily fluids and medication, but she won’t allow our kitty sitter to do those things. Jill is a great traveler, and she has traveled well in a traditional pet carrier in the past. However, she can no longer travel for hours without needing her litter box. We needed an enclosure that was big enough to hold her in her bed, her litter box, plus food and water, but did not take up the entire back of our SUV. We also wanted a kennel that was lightweight and did not take up much storage space. Then I happened to find this wonderful pop-up kennel!!! It is THE perfect solution for our situation. It offers plenty of space when opened, but doesn’t take up the cargo space in our SUV. It is big enough to hold Jill’s litter box, bed, plus food and water. It is held securely in place using bilateral seatbelt loops on the rear of the kennel, as well as bilateral straps that hang around the headrests. Plus it stores compactly when not in use. Jill has been able to rest comfortably, and use her litter box as needed during our trips. She used her box twice during our last 5 hour trip. We do keep the kennel covered with a sheet while moving, to help her stay calm, give litter box privacy, and keep the sun from shining directly onto her bed. There are only two small things I don’t love about the kennel. 1. You can only open the kennel using the doors on both ends. I wish it had a zipper in the middle of the front, or across the top. If I need to clean her box or refill water while at a rest area, I have to open the SUV door, then open the kennel door to do those things, which briefly leaves space through which a quick, young cat might want to escape. (Luckily Jill is old and slow, and just lays in her bed.) It’s also not super easy to get kitty out of the kennel through these doors at your destination. Jill never wants to get out into her regular carrier, so we typically just remove the litter box, unbuckle the straps, then move the whole kennel with her inside. This is best done with two people. At least this way we don’t have to worry about her getting loose and running away in an unfamiliar place. 2. I think it would be very difficult for one person to close the kennel down for storage. Recruit as assistant when you are ready to fold the kennel for storage. It requires both ends to be twisted in opposite directions, which is most easily done with two people. This kennel could work well for traveling with 2 cats, if they don’t need a litter box.

Perfect for long distance drive
Bought this for a 21 hr drive moving from California to Texas with 2 kitties - 1 large 18lbs, 1 9 month old 7lbs. It fit perfectly across the back seats of honda civic with pillows/blanket on each seat bottom to bring it level, and one of their favorite blankets inside along with a pee pad just in case (nit needed). Doors on both ends made getting them inside easy when we placed small bowl of dry food inside. There was more than enough room for them to spread out and sleep, stand up, turn around and take 3-4 steps. We used a rolling luggage transporter at the hotel to move them while still inside the pen to move them in to our hotel room at night and let them out to eat/drink/potty. We carried it inside new home and they stayed all night inside the pen, and used it as their ‘safe place’ to hide and run back to for the next few days, with doors on both ends wide open. Possibly the best pet product investment i have made! Highly recommend, simple to set up/take down and store for future needs. Lightweight, looks nice, sturdy, versatile and great value.

Incredible product, perfect for cross country
Moved cross country and bought this to put my cat into. It fit perfectly in the back seat of a Toyota 4runner leaving maybe 3" on either side. This thing was such a lifesaver, it held my cat, she's larger about 12 pounds, a small kitty bed, a portable travel size litter pan for her to go potty in. And I also purchased a spill proof water dish and small food dish. It's been absolutely the best purchase! It has two doors, one on each side and the front panel is a mesh fabric. It collapses fairly easy by twisting it and pushing it together then clipping it with the snap clip strap closure on both sides. Trust me on this one, if you're going to be travelling or moving cross country and need a solution for kitty containment, THIS IS IT!! I love this thing. And best part, my kitty stopped meowing after about 2 hours and accepted her fate 😂 now she's really comfortable in it and it's a form of security for her. I load her up and she goes straight for her kitty bed and lays down. Love this product! I highly recommend it, worth every penny! I also bought the pop up version, which I do not recommend. It's very unstable and flips over easily. My cat was sent flying into the floor on multiple occasions just by turning a corner. There's no way to tie it down so this one is not a good option if you care about your pet. The zipper on this one is a little sticky also. If you plan on using it in the house it might be okay, but definitely wasn't a good option in the car. Spend more money and buy the one with the hinges gate its excellent.

Get this if you're in for a long road trip with pets
Me and my fur baby take 10-hour road trips a few times per year. Up until this last trip, I'd been enclosing her in a car-sized carrier. While I've loved the safety of that, she would be noticeably uncomfortable and irritated for most of the trip in there, often crying. I wanted instead to find a way to give her space to move around while having an all-access to pass to her food/water and litter box. This was it, this was what I was looking for (actually appears to be the only thing on the market like this?!). While not perfect, I was really pleased with it during our first road trip with it and plan to use this for all trips going forward. Pros: - very spacious. Everything I needed for my cat fit inside: food, water, small litter box, and small cushion/blanket. Did exactly what I wanted it to do, and I feel so much better traveling with my cat knowing she won't be so confined as previously and without access to her food/water/litter. No more stopping to pull her litter box out and waiting to see if she'll use it before getting back on the road. - fits perfectly across entire back seat. Length and width just perfect. - easy to setup and put away. Not only did it just take a few minutes to get it set up and put away, I LOVE that it folds back down to a size small enough to store in my trunk when not in use (and in the included carrying case). Prevents me from having yet another cat carrier to fit somewhere in my apartment. - doors on each end of it, allowing ease of access and securing. Cons: - wish the top was also a mesh material. Since this takes up the full backseat, I had to put extra luggage behind the front seats, which came closer than I'd like to the mesh/breathable side of the kennel. While I'm sure there was still plenty of oxygen able to get in the kennel, I would've liked even more to have the entire top (or even just one side of it) also mesh to allow more air flow in there. - a bit pricey. Don't get me wrong, you get a lot of product and it feels well-made, but considering most of it is a soft fabric/mesh that pops out, I wonder if it's a big markup. - safety. The product photo explicitly states that it won't protect a pet in a car accident. I do wish the company sold an optional attachment that would offer protection - some attachable bars or something. That would make this perfect. Overall, DEFINITELY recommend if you're doing a long road trip like me and want to give your cat access to everything they need.

Review for the SPORT PET large popopen kennel,
I like this carrier! I have two miniature Dachshunds and needed to contain them while traveling. I have a 2024 Acura RDX and needed something small enough to fit in the back seat which has a slope. I also wanted something that would not mar the leather seats. This is perfect for one to two small dogs. It stretches completely across the back seat and has doors on either side. This means that no matter what side I use, I'm not bending and reaching trying to put the dog in the crate. The carrier has channels at the bottom which you run the seat belts through and straps to put around the head rests. This secures the carrier in place. Because the dog is not buckled in with a harness/puppy seat, if there is a collision the dog would get thrown about inside the carrier but I feel the carrier would remain in place. I chose the carrier over the harness/puppy seat so the dogs would have a little bit of room to move about on long trips. The front of the carrier is mesh so the dogs can see me. The carrier is light weight and easy to set up. Taking it down is quick and easy as well. It is compact and tucks away nicely for easy storage. It also comes with a handy dandy storage cover to help keep it free of garage debris while being stored. Over all a great LITTLE carrier. Notice that the product reads "large" pop open carrier. DO NOT think you can put a large or medium size animal in this carrier. By "large" they mean length not height. The It will hold two small dogs comfortably, maybe three if they like to cozy up to one another. The attached picture from the product description is an accurate portrayal of it's size. One last thing to note, because this is a light weight nylon type fabric, I'm not sure how well it would protect leather seats from cat claws.

Love it! Super Roomy! Might not solve kitty car anxiety...
We purchased this carrier because were planning to make a cross country move soon and wanted our baby, Merlin, to be as comfortable as possible. He hates traveling in the car and we were hoping this would make the experience more enjoyable for him. Since we bought it we’ve had it sitting in our living room open and available for him to explore. To our surprised, he LOVED it. It was a nice cozy spot for him to curl up in. Fast forward to this weekend, my partner and I decided to go on a weekend getaway 2.5hrs from home and thought we would bring Merlin along and test out the new crate. First of all, the crate itself is phenomenal! It’s large and roomy, I was able to fit a litter box on one side and still had plenty of room for Merlin, a food bowl, and his blanket. It fits perfectly in our backseat and didn’t move around when taking sharp corners or coming to a stop. It’s easy to clean, fold up and store once you’re finished using it. For all of those reasons we really love it and will continue to use it when we need to take the cat on the road. With all of that being said, if you have an anxious kitty and you're hoping the roominess of this crate will solve that issues— you may be out of luck. Merlin is the worst car companion, he gets extremely anxious and just screams while he’s in the car. We were hoping being in a larger crate would solve that, but no such luck (check photos and videos for evidence). He was able to use his litter box on the drive and I do think that helped his stress level a little bit. Overall, if you’re hoping this will fix car anxiety, it might not be the cure-all. I do however think this is a must have if you are planning for a long road trip with your animal!! We can’t recommend this enough!

Best Purchase of the Year!
I was very skeptical about this product before purchasing. I have heard lots of people discourage putting two cats in the same carrier while traveling as it could lead to fights and agitation. I have two cats who are about the same size (12 pounds) and are both 4 years old. They have been together since birth essentially (not from the same litter but we're fostered together since they were a few weeks old). They are brothers in every sense of the word and have a lot of love for one another and are extremely comfortable with each other so I took a chance. Let me tell you, this was the best thing I have bought from Amazon this whole year. Normally both of my cats are yelling and uncomfortable the whole ride (usually it's just a 30 minute drive to relatives if we are out of town or the vet) but this holiday season we were driving 4 hours to visit family and they were coming with us. I wanted to make this ride as comfortable as possible for them so I did a few things to prepare them for this ride. 1) left the tunnel out at our apartment for a few days before the trip to let them inspect and roam and for it to smell like home as much as possible 2) took two blankets that they enjoy laying on and lined the floor of the tunnel with it in the car so they had something that smelled like home and was soft. They barely meowed and spent most of the time sleeping or cuddling together. The ride turned out to be five hours with traffic and they couldn't have been more at peace. The most they meowed was on the highway when the car sped up a bit but it was so minimal. And they enjoyed being able to roam around and look at us from the front. I also really liked being able to clearly see them and watch over them. One thing I hated about normal carriers was never knowing if the air flow was enough but the doors of the tunnel are like a metal grate which allowed for lots of air and the mesh window that runs along the length of the tunnel also helped with this. If you're on the fence about this I would say as long as your cats are comfortable with one another and show no signs of aggression, do it! This has changed the game for our car trips! I do still use their individual carriers to take them to and from the house to the tunnel and vice versa. It's also extremely easy to secure to the car with the seat belt and headrest and to collapse when not using.

Doesn't Last Against Cat Claws
This product is a good idea and technically it fit nicely across the whole of my back seat (Ford Focus) which should have given my cats (x2) plenty of room to be okay on our long journey, but... the thing lasted only one round trip as kitten claws tore through the siding and they scratched at the metal doors so much their nails chipped and split. I think if my cats were more docile it would have been fine, it can even fit a small travel liter box (but it doesn't sit flat so be prepared for liter to be everywhere). Other points of note-it is hard to fold up without worrying that you are breaking it and it never really goes back into its nice square after first use. Also, how the zipper is set up in the center of the crate does NOT allow for easy middle access. This means if you or your driving buddy needs to put a treat in or get to the cattos easily while driving, tough luck. Good points: is large and the straps help keep it attached to the seat, folds up for storage.

useful for car travel for small pets
very useful for car travel for small dogs or cats. You can fit a litter box, bed and dishes for the cats/kittens. The doors are hard plastic so cats can't break open like zipper carriers. Is the length of a back seat of car.
