Been using this since college
Not sure how I've never written a review for this. I have bought and used this protein powder for a decade from Amazon. The taste is meh would not have it on its own. I use it in my oatmeal which I flavor with other things. I like it because it is low calorie for the protein and it's easy to digest for a vegan non soy protein. My one complaint is I wish the package was more sustainable. I'd love to see this brand switch to an oatmeal type cardboard canister to avoid plastic or use an aluminum canister.

Recent batches have a rancid smell and taste. UPDATE: They have corrected this!
I have been using this for years in smoothies and I liked it for its mild taste that could blend in with anything you mix it with. Recently, I had to send two back because they had a rancid smell and taste. I usually go through a tub of these every three weeks, so I knew something was off just from the smell when opening it. I also tried it but it tasted really sour. I ordered another one immediately but it was the same story. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch but both had the same lot number: LT 35617-4 with EXP 1/21. Either that or the formula has changed in a bad way.I hope it is just a bad batch and would love to continue to buy this, but I can't right now.UPDATE: It seems they have corrected this and reverted their recipe/process so that there is no longer the rancid taste. The last 3 I have purchased have been back to normal. The ones I've received have a big sticker on the side that says EXP07/2021. Thank you!

It's rice protein powder what do you expect
Thought I'd come back and give this another try. It's not a fun taste, but it does the job just fine. Doesn't give me any gas or stomach pains like whey does so that's a plus.1 scoop = 12g proteinI reuse the scoops from other protein powder tubs and usually measures exactly 2 tbsp.I normally just put it in a shaker with water so it's not the tastiest way of consuming it, but I'm sure it will be just fine with flavored liquids like milk/oatmilk/etc.I like to mix it in oatmeal and some peanut butter in the morning and it's definitely much more manageable.

Great taste blends well easily digested
Love this protein powder. Great vanilla taste minus the nasty synthetic Splenda additive. I have UC and I can digest it really well.

I *strongly* prefer the plain flavor -- the vanilla is kinda nasty IMO
This is a pretty good product, but the vanilla flavor is really synthetic tasting in my opinion. Yes the powder is a bit gritty, but I don't mind that at all -- in fact I kind of like it. But I wish I had stuck with the unflavored version (which I've also reviewed and love!). So yeah, the vanilla is kind of nasty. I was putting a little vanilla extract in my smoothie base (which is delicious) but then decided to just try this. I won't buy this ever again, but I really like the plain and will keep using it in the future. If you like actual, real vanilla flavor, then steer clear of this product! (I use Penzey's vanilla extract, so I'm used to very high quality vanilla!).For what it's worth, I use homemade coconut milk drink as a smoothie base. Here's the recipe:1 can coconut milk2-3 cans worth of water (use the empty coconut milk can, 2 cans water if you like it a little thicker, 3 if not)1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (use less if you use regular salt!)1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (I recommend Penzey's!!!)blend with a hand blender in a container and you're ready to go! It's great as a smoothie base but is also delicious on cereal.

I bought it once and came back for more!
Most of the reason I wanted to write a review was just to make a note for those of you who are big in taste. Despite the fact that this advertises as "vanilla" it is actually quite flavorless, which I suspect could be off putting for most. However I find it incredibly affective and also extremely easy to digest. I'm lactose intolerant which means I cannot use whey without horrifying gastrointestinal issues, but that also means I'm mixing this with almond milk which is unsweetened making this concoction a little harrowing, but I'm sure if I were to use sweetened or blend with fruit would clear that up quickly. However, I'm drinking this for the affects of helping me build lean muscle tissue which this does extremely well. That disclaimer out of the way, this is my second time purchasing it and I personally couldn't be loving it more. It's a great post work out recovery and helps me get a little more protein into my primarily vegetarian diet. I am suspicious that if you are lactose intolerant then drinking whey can offer you no benefits. I've been using whey for the last 6 months and all I did was get fat. Just a couple weeks back on this and I'm seeing a notable difference in my body composition.I did some research on rice protein and apparently it's not a complete protein and should be supplemented with either pea or hemp protein. Honestly, I think it's doing fine all on its own.

Good enough for me
The taste is kinda bland and just so-so. The texture is a bit grainy but tolerable. I usually mix it with almond milk, a vitamin/mineral supplement I use along with a banana. So this is my go-to protein for that concoction. Haven't felt the need to try any other flavor combos with it because it's just kinda meh. I will say though the very short list of ingredients is a huge selling point for this protein powder, and the fact that it's cheap rice protein is what gives this a 4-star rating for me. At least I know I'm consuming the right type of protein for my blood-type (for those of you into the "Blood Type Diet") without the excess ingredients that don't contribute positively to my health, not to mention the whey stuff makes me feel a little bloated. Anyway, this stuff works if you're looking for bang for your buck (which I am). If you're looking for taste, there's probably better stuff out there. I'm satisfied enough with it that I'll stick with it though.

Really nasty I am returning it
This stuff is nasty. The powdery taste in mixed in water and it doesn't taste or smell like vanilla at all. It feels like your are drinking sand with your water or whatever you have mixed this with. I have tried a lot of vegan and non vegan protein powder and never have I disliked one yet until this one.

Excellent stuff
Well worth it over whey, and other powders. Really easy to digest, I don't find the taste the greatest but I don't mind it either. In fact I prefer it not tasting like candy because itmeans there's no artificial garbage in it. 100% natural stuff and it packs a punch. I've been working out hard and been relying on this stuff for the bulk of my protein. The results back it up.

It smells very nice and vanilla-y
I am allergic to dairy product so got this. It smells very nice and vanilla-y, but tastes a little blend, and a little coarse like sand... Can't say I am much of a fan of it, but it is a protein. Mixed with pea protein and it is good to have all the amino acid (pea protein is equally gross btw. cant complain too much because I cannot take whey)

GRITTY BY ITSELF
The vanilla is better than non-flavored. It is gritty if not mixed with other protein powders. I still use it but now I mix it so as to hide the grit and strong taste.
