What is this used for?

This vacuum chuck is ideal for: Finishing bowl bottoms, Refining completed turnings, Holding your project while parting, Secure, hands-free workholding on the lathe. A dependable solution for woodturners.

Outside Diameter: 3.5". Overall Length: 4". Steel tube length (past end of chuck): 18.5". Thread sizes available: 1.25-8 or 1-8 TPI.

What type of vacuum pump is needed?

Minimum requirement: 3CFM single stage pump. Larger pumps are fine but not necessary. Oil mist collector highly recommended, which is why we recommend the Best Value Vacs pump VE115.

Thread onto your lathe spindle. Using a 3/8" ID plastic tube, connect a good vacuum supply to the 3/8" OD tube that passes through the headstock from the chuck. Position your turning on the chuck and turn on the vacuum. Use tailstock support.
