Q: Isn't the UK size guide out a bit?

Yes, Im a size 8/10, ordered large, it’s not as large and snuggly as I would have liked. Needed it for a hospital stay it did the job, but have since bought another one from high street store.

Q: Would a large fit a size 16??

No get a size larger than normal

Q: Would this be suitable for my elderly mum to wear immediately after a shower to get dry?

I cannot honestly say if it is suitable. Perhaps it would be better to get the worse of the water off before putting it on, but once it is on it is so cosy and warm, I love it.

Q: Would a smalll a small fit a size 6??

The size M that I bought for me, it's little tight , and I am size 8. You can try size M if you want to stay conformable in it. Up to you. The quality it's very good.
