Garbage?
Very poor design and quality. Let's start with the quality. The material used is super cheap. The hats themselves are literally pintechs cheap non trigger practice cymbals with a trigger pad glued on it. The plastic on the controller is even worse. It felt like a child's toy. I felt like it was going to break when I was attaching it to my hi hat stand. Second the design is terrible. First you've got the hats, top hat is a single zone which is fine. Since it's pretty much two solid pieces of plastic, there is nowhere to plug your cable into. What pintech decided to do was drill a hole through the bottom hat and run a cable from the triggered top hat and dangle it through the bottom hat. Which presents a couple problems. One, obviously you have a somewhat rigid, unfixed cable running through the center of your hats, which gets in the way, and makes the hi hat action rough. Sometimes the cable will bend and hold the hats open in an awkward way and when the cable is running straight down, the weight of the cable pulls the top hat down in a weird way. There's also nothing stopping rotation so it makes issues even worse. Second obvious issue is since the cable is not fixed and just dangling from the trigger, I don't imagine it would last very long. You can try to zip tie it, but since it's attached to the top hi hat which moves up and down, I don't think it would make much of a difference. Now on to the controller. First it's held onto the stand with pretty much two fixed zip ties with some foam serving as the clamping area. It doesn't hold it on very well so it starts to sag and eventually slide. Also, what they don't show you in the picture is that the little black box has a length of what feels like black fishing line hanging from the bottom which connects to an eye bolt which is then clamped to the chain on your hi hat stand. So the way it works, is when you press the pedal down, it pulls on the string connected to the controller and triggers your open and closed sounds. Seriously? A draw string!? Oh and by the way the eye bolt clamp doesn't work on most chain driven hi hat stands, so you're gonna have to get creative to get it to work. I ended up returning it asap, and went with the goedrum hi hats instead. They're much better quality, the controller works much better, the tracking is way better, it's ten dollars cheaper, and there's no draw string!
