A good Halo read about the young Master Chief and his Spartan team!
Master Chief John-117 and his 4 person Spartan team are sent on a secret and dangerous mission to a inhospitable planet. They are to try to recover a crashed Covenant frigate. Everything about this mission smells to high heaven like a trap. Unfortunately the team and the military Intelligence can’t ignore the possibility to capture advanced Covenant advanced technology. The Human Race is losing the war and the Covenant forces are blasting entire planets to cleanse the human race from the galaxy. Any technology gained from this mission could help to turn the tide in the war in favor of the humans…….I find these books about the young Spartan Blue Team to be very interesting. I purchased the hardcover book for my library and I purchase the Kindle and Audible version to read. Overall I liked the story and seeing how the young Master Chief is learning and improving his teams fighting skills. John’s analytical skills in studying the strategy of the Covenant forces makes him and his team the leading experts on how to defeat the aliens. This book is not perfect. I didn’t like the interaction between the Spartans and a group of young human castaways on the planet. I am a real Halo fan so I plodded my way through the book and I found that the story line improved the more I read.Overall I liked the book and I ultimately rated it 5 stars but it is not in the class of the original books about Halo. Troy Denning has written better Halo books but this one was not bad.

Its 3-4 Stars
I'm overall not sure how I feel about Oblivion. I both enjoyed it and didn't care for it. 3stars seems too low, but 4 is almost too high. In this book to me Troy Denning was hard to follow. Multiple scenes that I have mapped out in my head, come to find out, I was visualizing completely wrong. I would be following, and then right before a combat scene the characters would be displaced, facing the wrong direction in my head etc. It seems to come from Denning's writing style in this one for me. IDK if it was lack of detail or TOO much.Besides that the only thing that I found very weird were the introduction to these "kids" on this planet. it felt so unnatural and weird. Without spoiling anything, Denning did wrap the book up well to make up for this weirdness initially. Like I say, IDK how I feel about it LOL. Read it for yourself

Amazing addition.
Another amazing entry from Troy Denning. What I love most about this book and the last one is that we get another novel that takes a glimpse into the mind of John, aka the Master Chief, and adds on to his character as he tries to find his place within the war between humanity and the Covenant. Reading this novel is, to me, comparable to the Batman comics that delve deep into the psychosis of who Batman is and the actions he takes. Blue team (Fred Mostly) also get lots of attention in this novel.Ont top of all this, we also more glimpses into the factions and the inner workings of the Covenant, which is always a plus in my book (no pun intended). John also faces lots of opposition within the UNSC as well from other characters who try undermine him throughout the story. This forces John into unique situations as he tries to battle and outthink the Covenant while also making his authority is heard. If you were a fan of Troy's previous entry (Halo: Silent Storm), this book is a no brainer.

Halo: Oblivion was Action-Packed
This was a great story in the Halo universe. It is action-packed and dramatic. Despite the superiority of the Spartans' armor compared to other human soldiers, they are a match for the Covenant Elite soldiers. Due to this, the reader doesn't know if the mission humans are executing will be successful. I do like the interaction of the Spartans with each other, as well as other humans. The author, Troy Denning, does a great job of bringing the reader into the battle and keeping them on the edge until it is complete. I like that John-117's story is continued here.

Excellent
I truly enjoyed reading it. I always knew about Halo but never had the chance to read, or play the games. I believe that was a good start. Also bought the Silent Storm by the same author, Troy Denning. Definitely recommend.

Great Halo Book!
I personally enjoyed this book a lot. The first five chapters were an amazing introduction. The highlights were the intense combat, John-117’s inner thoughts, and the overall gritty atmosphere. It also showcased that despite John and the other Spartans of Blue team having the best training, the best equipment, and being supersoldiers 500 years into the future, his lack of combat experience limited his ability to turn the tide in that first battle. The rest of the book after the initial battle was filled with back and forths between Blue team traversing through a hostile environment to complete their next big objective and the Covenant Sangheili’s perspective on trying to hunt down the Spartans. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entire journey.Troy Denning’s strongest ability is his attention to detail. The way he describes the MJOLNIR armour the Spartans wear gave off Iron Man vibes, which I thought were a very nice touch. There was also a reference made to planet Gao, the setting of Halo: Last Light, which I think fans of that book would appreciate.
