Virgil & Owen Hardcover – Picture Book, January 27, 2015

I am familiar with Paulette Bogan's Spike series and Lulu series and was very happy to see she had another book out. As usual, her stories are told with easy childlike dialogue and delightful illustrations. Virgil and Owen has a simple message that lets a child relate and a storyteller ask questions. "How do you think the polar bear felt?" is a question the parent naturally asks as its read to a 3 year old. The character's expressions are priceless and the predicament they find themselves in is common to the preschooler like not wanting to share and trouble making friends. One of the best features, it can be read in just a few minutes making it the perfect bedtime story.I bought 6 of them for St. Valentines Day gifts for the munchkins in my life. Everyone loved it.As a side note, my niece and her daughter always have fun "arguing" which is better, Penguins or Polar Bears? Paulette knows what kids love!!

I gave my nephews this book for his birthday and they absolutely love it! The illustrations are super cute and there's always a sweet underlying lesson that kids can relate to. They like to repeat some of the words when they read the story. What a wonderful treat it was to see them so engaged!!

Virgil & Owen is a wonderful lesson on friendship. I picked up several copies as gifts for my great nieces and nephews. The expression on their faces were priceless as they pointed at the beautiful illustrations on each page! I'll definitely be purchasing more for the cherubs in my life!

I loved the message. This is a great book to help discuss sharing friends and the overall benefit of inclusion. The illustrations were mesmerizing, I found myself rereading the book to look at the cool pictures.

I am a big fan of Paulette Bogan's books especially the Spike series. I bought Virgil and Owen as a gift for my friend's children and they loved the story! Fantastic illustrations and story line!

Both the storyline and illustrations grab the attention of my children...I'm asked to read this book all the time! All kids can relate to both Virgil & Owen...it's become a favorite in our house!

Ein entzückendes Buch zum Vorlesen.Ich habe es meinen Kindern in der ersten Klasse vorgelesen und den Text dabei auf Deutsch übersetzt, weil es für die Kleinen sonst noch nicht so leicht wäre alles zu verstehen. Sie waren restlos begeistert und haben die Message sofort verstanden und ein tolles Gespräch hat sich ergeben. Im Anschluss hatten die Kinder die Möglichkeit deren Lieblingsszene aus dem Buch zu malen und diese wunderschönen Kunstwerke zieren nun die Klasse. Immer wieder werde ich gefragt, ob ich das Buch denn bitte nochmals vorlesen würde, weil es ihnen so gut gefällt.Ich denke, dass neben der Geschichte auch die süßen Illustrationen Kinderaugen zum Strahlen bringen.Ein entzückendes Buch, welches eine wichtige Message rund um Freundschaft vermittelt - von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung
