Tested & working, two things are a must-know
This CH341A programmer is the Pro version and it works perfectly fine. With the CH341A we have two editions, there's a normal version which is larger and the black "Pro" version (it's this one). It gets called the "CH341A Pro". Things to know: 1) It's said online that it's fine to use as-is as long as you program standard BIOS chips, but if you start programming different kinds of EEPROM then beware of what we call the "3.3V voltage problem". Basically it only feeds 3.3V at most without unofficial modification, but with an easy fix found online (named "CH341A 3.3V volt mod" you can workaround the problem and restore full 5V voltage). 2) Beware to treat the lever slot very gently because it's said online that it wears out very fast. If you don't need to disconnect your SOIC8 PCB from the 25XX/24XX slot, then just leave it as-is without removing them to save it from additional wear. When it wears out, that means the lever no longer holds the PCB pins inside strongly enough. I used this programmer to read then write back my own laptop BIOS and it worked perfectly fine, I used the AsProgrammer software to do it.

FANTASTIC PRODUCT
I seldom leave feedback - in fact this is only my third time in fifteen years as an Amazon user. I only do so when I think the product warrants it, as in this case. The ACEIRMC SOIC8 Eprom programmer worked perfectly for me. I see from the reviews that some buyers could not get it to work and left negative feedback as a result. Speaking from my own experience, it may have been that those reviewers had the wrong BIOS binary from the manufacturer. At first I had the same problem. I could not get the file downloaded from SuperMicro to work, no matter what I tried. Luckily for me, what I DID have available was a new, pre-programmed chip I had purchased as a fail-safe. However, desoldering the old from the board and replacing it with the new was not something I looked forward to doing, though would tried as a last resort. Fortunately, I did not have to. Since the programmer is also a reader, I simply copied the file from the new chip and used it to program the original. The whole process took only a couple of minutes, and I was back in business not only with the board working again, but with the bios updated, which is what I wanted in the first place. It was a failed update that caused me to brick the mobo in the first place. Another thing I see people complaining about is difficulty getting the clip to seat on the chip properly, but I had no problem whatsoever - and it is a very small chip! So before you give up on it, make sure you have a good binary file to work with. Even though I ended up buying a chip I didn't have to install (thank goodness) the small cost of $25 from eBay was well worth it for the time saved and final results.

Works with some effort
The programmer I received had a problem with the zif socket securing lever not staying down. However, the clip worked fine and I was able to reprogram a bios after a failed update by holding the arm down while I did the reading and programming using flashrom. It's a little annoying, but it saved me hundreds of dollars and much more effort that would be needed to replace a mainboard, so one star removed since it wasn't perfect, but it still got the job done.

Works Great, but Be Careful Where You Get the Software From
From the Hardware perspective, this is a great value product. I used it on two BIOS chips with the alligator clip and it worked flawlessly. In terms of getting the Software, that was a scary journey. I ended up using the NeoProgrammer V2.2.0.10 which I downloaded from mediafire com via dwdvb com. Since I do not trust any of these sites or executables, I installed the Software on my sacrificial PC on an isolated network. Be sure to configure your Software correctly, as it makes a huge difference in the success rate (NeoProgrammer's defaults did not work for me).

10/10 Would recommend - saved 2x $300 mobos with this simple device
Never had issues with the clip, not sure why people are saying it's trash. Reconnected it 10x times and no issues. Just line up the smaller part with the 4x pins on each side. For correct connection of 1.8v redux see pic. Best advice is READ and RESEARCH thouroughly before attempting. Youtube and forums have all the info you need. Use ASprogrammer from github. Make sure to unlock > wipe > verify empty > program > verify and profit!!!! Thanks 100% seller. Great product and cheap fix for expensive mistakes.

Poor Quality Test Clip
The SOP8/SOIC8 test clip was awful. It worked a couple of times, then the clip kept popping off of the IC. I ended up buying a Pomona test clip. It hasn't failed yet after 60 or more uses. The actual CH341A programmer and associated components work great. My only complaint is the poor quality test clip.

Awesomely - Awesome !!! And Works Perfectly ! This is the one to get !
Paid a few dollars less for another product that was of awful quality (the clip connector had barb hooks like fishing hooks and were uneven)and was unusable, requiring a return. This one was perfect all even and the right pitch on the end. This worked so good I got a read on the first try, thought can't be,cleared buffer, read again and WOW,on the eeprom -First try,and it's about the same on every hookup. This is the one you want if your looking for something that works @ a reasonable price!

Just what I needed and a little more.
Needed to dump the BIOS on an HP laptop that came in a bulk auction from a local school. They didn't remove the password protection on any of them. All the previous methods from years past were useless and in the end I figured out I needed to either desolder 20+ chips and swap them with new ones or do the rewriting directly on the board. By the end the teeth on the clamp were so worn I didn't think I'd be able to finish but it got the job done. Other than that, no complaints and the price is dirt cheap for the amount of time it saved me.

Works as intended

With this device you can now extract EEPROM data for backups, you can also upload custom BIOS firmware directly to the EEPROM without having to remove it from the motherboard. IT JUST MAKES LIFE A LITTLE BIT EASIER... But of course with all that being said you do need to have some background knowledge in computers and electronics, its for me but difficult for the average grandma.

Like: many components included Dislike: soic8 zero insertion force socket to DIP8 should be wide body 200mm for flash chip. 150mm sent, impossible to insert flash chip without bending pins.
