Handles my 14lb 36 inch computer monitor with ease.
This is fantastic. This is one of those things that you think is an unecessary and expensive luxury, until you have one. I got a Humanscale monitor arm for free at work and after just a week I liked it so much I went out and bought one for home. Compared to a monitor stand, this arm is drastically more adjustable. I have my computer desk in my bedroom. I can move the monitor to the rear of the desk for work, move it closer to my face for gaming, or swing it off the side of the desk and lay on my bed to watch movies. A monitor arm saves a lot of desk space. This frees up space for my large mouse pad and keyboard. It also gives a more minimal and clean aesthetic. I previously had the humanscale monitor arm rated for 16 lbs, which is hardly more than my 14 lb monitor. This meant that regardless of how I adjusted the springs, the monitor would droop 2 inches below maximum height. Not with this arm. It holds at the peak height without dropping. The monitor tilt and rotate action seems to have improved in the M8 over the older enterprise M2 I first bought. The swivel action at the base and connection between the 2 arm-pieces is incredibly smooth and low-friction. The black matte finish and base are sleek and match the frame of my monitor. The only concern with this is there isn't a built-in way to keep cables from slipping 3-6 inches down and off the bottom. This resulted in the DisplayPort plug getting yanked hard to the side as I rotated the top of the arm and almost broke it. After I used the velcro ties to keep it up, that hasn't happened again. However, I'd prefer some internal mechanism. This is a very minor quibble though and easily worked around. This arm is worth every penny.

Great product, poorly packaged
Works wonderfully for my 38” ultrawide Acer. Movements are really smooth. However, the packaging was really bad. You can see in the background of my picture that it only game in a box stuffed with paper. No styrofoam cutouts or even bubble wrap. One part of the arm came with deep scratches as shown. I received a small partial refund for the damage because shipping it back will be too much of a hassle. But all these could’ve been avoided with better packaging. What a shame.

B stock or used
I’ve bought one of these last year, came in with everything looking used(albeit just lightly used). I could even see some scratch marks on the mount. Accessories didn’t look like original packaging either. I ended up asking them to send another one as replacement, it was the same story - lightly used when the listing said they would be new. However, I ended buying both, because my wife and I happened to need them during that time, and didn’t have time to deal with this bs then. I’m writing this review as a remainder of others looking at this listing. I’d recommend buying from more reputable retailers. I live in SoCal, since there are positive reviews here without issue, this may have something to do with local warehouse distributions, something is fishy here. Your mileage may vary.

Nice Monitor Arm, But!!!!!
Nice monitor arm, well made and functions well. That's where my positive review ends. I needed to replace a part. Contacted the company three times and all three times I did not get a response. This is no way to do business, to support customers. If you buy a HumanScale product, you are on your own if something happens. Other than that.......well, thats enough. Will never purchase a HumanScale product again.

Very sturdy for heavy monitors
Great if you need to hang a 34" or larger, expensive but worth it

Perhaps the best monitor arm I've ever used, it's like a work of art!
The Humanscale M8.1 is without a doubt a very high-end and quality monitor arm, IMO, it's well worth the price I paid which was $250 for the white/aluminum version. It's very well built, super solid, great design/construction and easy to put together. The arm movement is also very smooth, it's not like the cheaper monitor arms, this thing allow your monitor to effortlessly float in the air. I have it set up with an LG 27" Monitor but this can definitely handle much bigger and heavier monitors, it also has a built-in tension adjustment for different weight monitors. If you are looking for a top-of-the-line monitor arm, this is it!

Suspicious Packaging & Product Origins
The product came in a non-descript box, with individual pieces bubble wrapped. No retail packaging, no instructions, no screws. Either Humanscale has the worst retail packaging in history or this seller is selling gray market or b stock goods.
