I read cookbooks
I attended culinary school and have worked professionally in the culinary field. This book got me excited with each recipe. That doesn't happen too often. I also like how the author breaks down the different properties of woods for both cooking and smoking, and explores the different methods of wood-fire cooking. Confession: I bought the book as a gift for a friend, but couldn't help read it first myself!

More Than Enough
Mary Karlin's Wood Fired Cooking is a well-llustrated, robust collection of recipes and suggestions for cooking in a wood fired oven. As one who is interested mainly in pizza I cannot comment intelligently on other recipes, but the pizza dough looks worthwhile, and I will be trying it. For a book on wood fired ovens, more information on baking pizza would have been helpful, particularly in distinguishing it from baking bread. Otherwise, the time and temperature suggestions for pizza are appreciated. My only wish is that recipes list ingredients in terms of weight rather than volume, using metric measures. OK, one last wish: use baker's percentages. Overall, a fine book to add to one's collection on either pizza or wood-fired ovens.

recipes for food and wood
The recipes are excellent, but what I liked most is the chapter on wood. The fuel, the wood you cook with gives off different flavours and burns at different temperatures.I've not seen any other outdoor cookbooks that are so comprehensive.

Not exactly what you think
I was looking for a cookbook to use for recipes in the fireplace, this book seemed to be what I was looking for, but I was wrong. For a lot of the recipes she recommends covering the pot etc tightly, if you're going to do do that you might as well cook it in the oven. But the recipes do look tasty.

Excellent resource if you like to cook with fire
This book is a great tool to help you learn to cook with open flame. If you have no interest in this then do not buy it but if you need to polish up on the technique or want some good recipes then I would get it.... Wait I did get it... You should get it too.

Clearly written
Book is clearly written. I bought it for Tuscan grill instruction which was very helpful. It covers other wood cooking styles as well.

Old Days New Again
So many interesting and delicious meal ideas cooking the old fashioned way. It is like a wood fire cooking instruction manual for a simpler way of life. You can cook for a few guests or for the whole family with the distinct flavor of wood in every meal. Be adventurous and give wood fire cooking an honest effort and you will be amazed with the results. I highly recommend this book for those that enjoy food over open flame or those that want to take a break from the fast paced life and create awesome masterpieces.
