DESTRUCT USB Gadget - Military Grade Hard Drive Wiper - Permanently Erase All Data on PC and Laptops Before Selling

I have 2 old PCs I want to recycle, one of which is a HP Touchsmart, which I really didn’t want to disassemble just to destroy the hard drive. The Destruct drive seemed just the thing.It arrived promptly in perfect condition. I followed the directions (6 short steps) and just let it run.Plug the fob into the USB port and hit (for the HP anyway) ESC key to boot from the Destruct drive. The process uses a three pass process. Pass 1 took about two hours to complete, but it’s not like you have to watch, so no big deal. The second pass encountered a CRC check error so I had to start the process all over 3 times before the second pass would start. If I might make a suggestion to the developer to handle the error a bit more cleanly that would be great, but really not too big a deal. The second pass had to run overnight and took almost 24 hours! But this is the pass that really destroys and verifies the destruction of your data, so it is doing a lot of work. Besides I’m getting rid of this pc because it’s so slow. Third pass does a final wipe and ran in about an hourAnd this pc is totally dead. There is NOTHING left on this hard drive!All in all I am very pleased with the product and the seller.

I have been wanting to get rid of my old laptops but didn't know how to wipe the hard drive, so the old machines kept accumulating. The Destruct Pro worked on my 32-bit Sony Viao laptop that had Vista on it in about 3.5 hours (wiped 149 GB), my Sony Viao running Windows 7 took about 16 hours (wiped 596.2 GB) and my HP Pavilion running Win 10 took 9 hours to wipe clean (931.5 GB). I am a NOVICE at things like this and had to use the internet to figure out which machine used what F-key to access the BIOS. I then figured out how to re-order the boot drive on each machine (it is described to the right on your screen). My HP running Win 10 was the most difficult to get into the BIOS, which surprised me as it was the newest machine. After wiping each one clean, I double-checked by turning my laptop on and seeing "Operating System Not Found". While I beat my head on the wall alot the last 3 days, I am so pleased I got this device to work and now I can take my laptops to the recycler without worrying about someone seeing my personal information on the machine. I do recommend this product, but just know it is not plug and play easy - it takes a bit of work to use but it worth it in the end.

Great! It works well to erase or wipe Hard Drives, Solid state drives.

Had ro turn in a work computer. Company files were backed up on the system. As an auditor, there were a lot of extra files and data that needed to be deleted that were sensitive. This did the trick. Now the bored IT staff have less to do to ensure that the next user did not get files they don't need to see.

It was a little tricky, but simple process to find the program using File Explorer on my old, windows 10 based laptop. Once it wiped everything in about four hours, the system was rendered useless. Love the confidence I can have now to give this to the landfill.

Great concept, but unfortunately Destruct is terrible and didn't work, no matter how many times I tried. Maybe this works on newer laptops and PCs, but it didn't work on my older Lenovo with Windows 7. Being gracious and giving this review an extra star because maybe Destruct isn't solely to blame. Maybe the laptop was just too old for it to work on. But it sure would've been nice if device compatibility was noted somewhere on this page or in the product information prior to purchasing.

It worked well and wiped the entire computer, including the operating system, which I had not read it would do.
