This is exceptional. I bought a variable pump so that I could keep the water circulating without paying a fortune on my electric bill. The previous variable pumps didn’t run well at low speeds and one didn’t run at all within their claimed speed range. This pump does everything it claims to do. As far as being able to directly swap it out without modifying the plumbing, you can if you’re replacing another Hayward pump. Take this claim with a grain of salt no matter what pump you buy. It’s very quiet, but not silent. None are. This is better than average, especially at low speeds. I have 1 1/2” piping. I recommend setting the max speed at 3100 and running well below that. This is an issue with physics, not the pump. There is a part that you can buy for it to allow you to control the pump without climbing behind the piping. It is NOT included. I could never find a definitive answer to that question. I will buy it. This pump will last for years and is worth repairing as needed. It’s worth the investment if you want to go to a variable speed pump. I don’t think you’ll find a better pump. You can buy the cheap knockoffs, but you’ll be lucky to get a year out of them.
