I purchased this item to add to my HP laptop with Windows 10 compiled myself but it used Windows media player. I couldn't get it to play a DVD so contacted my Norton support who installed a free software called VLC Media player and it now works for all media.The Windows media player was asking me to pay for the privilege of playing a DVD. So for the price I think it is really good value. I think the supplier should advise of this additional information personnally

This was bought during lightning deal so it was ridiculously cheap. Needed an optical drive as my latest build game rig does not have one and wanted to load one of my old games from DVD. The drive is sleek and well designed, has four rubber anti slip pads to sit ontop of a desktop and an integrated but short usb lead. It's meant to plug into your front panel usb while sitting on top of case, there is no other reason for the very short lead.Its plug and play, it just works but god! I forgot how slow some of these drives could be, took couple of hours to load witcher 3, slow read speed compared to some. It's a bit noisy as some people have said but not to bad. I dont know what write speed is yet as haven't tried and didnt buy for that reason.Would I recommend? Yes! For what I paid, just over £10, it's a bargain

I had to buy an external CD/DVD writer as my new laptop (like most these days) doesn't have a CD/DVD drive built in and I had just bought a older version of MS Office which came on disc. It was so easy to use, you just plug it into a USB port go onto My PC or This PC- whichever comes up on your computer and select open and the little drawer pops out the Driver. It installed my old version of Office just like a built in drive, with no problems at all.There are also printed instructions for you to follow if you're not sure what to do and a handy little groove on the back to store the cable when not in use.

Didn't work with Chromebook

Ok, I needed to write some music to CD so thought I would buy a cheap CD writer. Came across this one, DVD player, CD writer, excellent, I can even have a watch of some old DVD's.Got the drive delivered in a pretty much generic box, no problems. Plugged the drive into my MacBook Pro, not detected and unable to get it to work so I plugged it into my Windows 10 machine at home, perfect, PnP at it's best and instantly popped up. Downloaded the usual CD write programs, popped a new CD into it, nothing showing up on any programs as a CD writer, only as a DVDR.All I got, although it was marked on the drive as otherwise was a DVD player which it was good at. It was not good at burning CD's as all it is, is a DVD player.False advertising at it's finest - STAY CLEAR AT ALL COSTS

My player on my laptop just packed up,so easy option was to buy an external one. This one is good and does what I want,comes with attached usb lead, which could being a bit longer,but hey for the price great product and free delivery with prime.

Quality product. I purchased thus due to having no cd/dvd drive on my laptop but now im able to play my Cds easily. Easy to install and would definitely recommend.
