It’s perfection as a start.
For all those who gave this book bad reviews, I would like to say it’s not fair. This book is not intended to prepare you to have the highest grade in GRE, there are other books for that, the book itself tells you to do more than this book, but if you are like me, haven’t touched on math for more than 10 years, have no clue where or with what to start and have no clue of the system of the GRE, then this is the book for you, it gives you an idea of what exactly to study in both math and english, with basic practices and exams, it tells you how the examiners think when writing the questions, it tells you exactly how to prepare for the exam, what happens in it and even what to do in the intermission you get during the exam. It’s so perfect to begin with and then take it deeper and going more intense with other books. I am so in love with this book, it saved me lots of worry and stress. Highly recommend as your first step. And honestly, if your goal is just to pass the GRE, you probably wouldn’t need more than this book, so it all depends on what you want as your grade.

Very good study guide
Great study guide. I had Kaplan and need more help with the math section. GRE for Dummies did a much better job with all the material; not just the math section. I was very happy overall with the book.

It's good that there are three tests in the back of ...
I bought the book 2 months before my test date. The book recommends that you read every single page within it, so I tried pacing myself at about 10 pages per day so that I can have some extra time just in case I needed to spend longer on any particular section (which I did). The vocab section alone will take at least a month to master so it's important NOT to go through the book chronologically. My advice is to get a huge deck of notecards and get started on memorizing right from the beginning. As for the quantitative portion, nothing helps more than to do as many tests as possible. It's good that there are three tests in the back of the book with six math sections in it. However, I gave this book four stars because I only increased my score by three points when I took the GRE after studying this book.

Watered down examples
Was a great book for understanding the GRE in general. however the quant and verbal examples are extremely watered down and way easier than the real thing. I found the writing portion of the book extremely helpful though.

Great book!
I used this book in 2009 and it helped me pass the GRE. I bought this updated version for my sister who is getting ready to take the exam.

Better than Kaplan
Was gifted to me by a friend as a joke. Turned out to be a better reference than Kaplan. Go figure! Highly recommend for GRE takers

Great book!
This is great. Much cheaper than anything I've found relating to GRE studies. Especially since it gives you other resources.

Helpful
Awesome book. Strategies are clearly ecplaibed. But, it is more helpful to intermediate level students rather than advanced ones. However, a majority of students fall in this category. So it's good to give ut s try to klearn the basic GRE concepts.
