The IEP from A to Z: How to Create Meaningful and Measurable Goals and Objectives (Jossey-Bass Teacher)

I purchased this book for use in training special education staff members of our region. I found it answered many questions concerning the development of appropriate and measurable goals and objectives. It details the "why". The examples presented in chapters 11-14 are excellent! I have suggested this book to my colleagues for use in their IEP development trainings. A fantastic reference/resource not only for the new special educator, but, also, for the seasoned teacher.

I used this while preparing for my autistic son's transition to kindergarten IEP meeting. I feel that it provides a good base on the things parents need to concentrate on to ensure their child is getting the most of his/her education. Though each state has different guidelines, the templates in this book are a very valuable resource to draw from and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the IEP process better.

I bought this for a course I was taking about IEPs. This book lays out the foundations to help you understand special education law and how to ensure all IEP goals are SMART goals.

I needed a book with more lower elementary goals and objectives, writing and math for K-2 for example. It is a very well written book and will be useful. I teach K-2 Special Education.

The book gave some good strategies to help write goals and objectives for IEPs. This will be useful for parents and teachers new to special education.

Any parent who has a child with a learning disability should have this book. This is especially true if they want to ensure that their child will obtain an appropriate education. The IEP is your binding contract between your school district and your child's educational program. Unless you fully understand how to develop a proper IEP that has measurable goals, your child will never receive an appropriate education that meets all of their needs. This book will teach YOU how to develop a proper IEP for you child with measurable goals.
