13 Gallon/50 L Garbage Can Kitchen Trash Can with Lid for Office Bedroom Bathroom Step Trash Bin Fingerprint-Proof Brushed Stainless Steel 13 Gallon / 50 Liter

I bought this kitchen trash can to replace a Home Depot trash can that had a sensor activated lid. The motor stopped working so I decided to find a replacement that wasn’t too expensive yet looked nice. I have small SimpleHuman trash cans throughout my house so I researched what they offered first. Unfortunately what I found for a reasonable price wasn’t stainless steel. Their other cans didn’t use standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags which my wife buys in bulk from Costco. I compared the Amazon trash can to this trashcan. I decided to try this one because I liked the way it looked and because it was slightly less expensive. I received the trash can but I found that the lid didn’t seat properly when closed. I discovered that the hinge attaching the lid to the can was slightly off-center causing the lid to not close completely. I really liked the way the can looked so I requested a return which was promptly approved. I immediately reordered another hoping that the next one would be fine and it was. I’ve had this trash can for more than a month. I decided to write a review because I’m very pleased with it. I like that it comes with a plastic insert. My previous trash can didn’t have an insert. The insert is very sturdy. Standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags fit perfectly inside the insert. I use trash bags from Costco with a strap at the top of the bag. I simply fold the top of the bag over the outside of the insert (just like my other SimpleHuman trash cans). Then I slide the insert back into the stainless steel trash can shell. I make sure to tuck the trash bag away from the hinge mechanism otherwise the bag may prevent the lid from closing completely. To empty the trash I lift the lid with my hand instead of using the foot pad. Doing this allows the lid to stand straight up without falling back down allowing me to grab the insert and put it out with the trash bag still inside. I walk the insert with the bag inside from the kitchen in the back of my house to my front door. I no longer have the problem of a punctured bag making a mess on the floors like I had with my old trash can that didn’t have an insert. With the lid still remaining open I easily slide the insert back into place with a new bag. The foot pad works great for opening and closing the lid for normal use. The only issue I’ve had is that when the trash can is empty pressing down on the foot pad may end up pushing the trash can backwards. I try to keep the trash can about an inch away from the wall because when the can is complete up against the wall the lid is restricted from opening completely. This isn’t a big deal because the lid opens enough even in this situation. It doesn’t take much trash being added before the trash can stays in place. At first I considered adding some extra rubber feet to keep the can in place but it’s really such a minor issue that I don’t think it’s worth doing. A rubber floor mat would be another option but why bother. I really like the size and the shape of this trash can. My previous trash can was ‘D’ shaped which prevented the space in trash bags from being optimally utilized. This trash can takes full advantage of the space in the trash bags. The trash bags fit snugly within the insert taking advantage of the full capacity of the bags. The height is also perfect. The bottom of the trash bags touch the bottom of the insert - no wasted space and no pulling on the top of the bag as trash fills the bag. When I remove the full trash bags they fit nicely into my rectangular 32 gallon outside garbage can.

I’ve been using this kitchen step trash can for a few days now, and it’s already a game changer. The stainless-steel body looks sleek and modern, so it blends right in with my kitchen decor. The step pedal is smooth and responsive no need to touch the lid with messy hands which makes cooking and cleanup a lot more hygienic. Upgraded from white kitchen plastic trash can to this chrome trash can. I went with soft close foot pedal vs the automated because the automation breaks. The pedal is incredibly sturdy and well made. Since its not automated; the automation can't break. The soft close is silent and I no longer have to manually close the lid. I love that feature. No batteries required. That saves money. Since its a foot pedal the automated door close won't break like many of the other trash cans report. This will continue to work for many years. Its standard kitchen capacity. It looks nice.

Works well. The lid opens and closes relatively quietly, with a soft close feature. Lid can be lifted by hand and left open, or opened with a foot lever and closed automatically (no motion sensor, but no batteries then!). Inside has a black trash bin that can be pulled out, which holds the garbage bag. Has a nice handle on the back to help carry it around if needed, so no finger prints! I would recommend. Warning that it might come with some dents, but hopefully they can be pushed back into shape. Personal critique: I wish the base had more grip to it. It can slide a little too easy, so I recommend added some rubber pads or placing it on a mat.

Great value , keeps the smell out, lid closes soft so no slamming of lid. Love that it comes in white, and still no fingerprints, cleans easily.

I don't typically write reviews but this one i had to! The garbage can is really good quality I bought the 40ltr and is quite big which is what I wanted. It came wonderfully packaged. Nice firm foam and a sturdy box so there were no dents. We'll worth the $30 for shipping!
