Q: How long are these overall? If 20" is the usable space, and there is "end cap space" how long are these in total with the caps in place?

20" is usable space. With the caps in place, they are 22" long. I mail rolls of material that are 20" wide and they fit perfectly without the caps touching the material.

Q: Will this fit a 17" x 22" poster with the end caps?

Yes. The caps only go in about 1/4” on each side.

Q: How many 18*24 posters can i fit in one roll?

We use these for engineering plans, and our paper is thicker, so I would think it is safe to say you could send several. 20 at least.
