I bought this for a non music use. Therefore, my experience may differ completely than from use on an instrument.I have an intermittent noise in my house. Outdoor it is loudest at the power meter, indoors it is loudest in the bedroom which is next to the meter. The electric company came out and removed the meter, but the noise was still present.I plugged this microphone into a Sencore SP-495 which is a multi-purpose instrument for acoustical measurements. This allows me to determine the frequency and amplitude of the noise, which is at 315 and 125 hz. I clamp the microphone to various things and measure the amplitude. While the mic does respond to sound in the room, it is much more sensitive to vibrations in a surface. I have located the loudest part of the house. The next step is moving outdoors. Note that the AC power to the house is shut off during tests. The noise is not coming in through the water pipe or electrical mains. It remains a mystery!This microphone is working well for what I bought it for. It is inexpensive, but works.The microphone is unbalanced. Applying phantom power makes it unusable. It will pick up 60hz from a power cord. The microphone cord is very thin and will not tolerate a lot of mechanical abuse. You can't beat the price for what I am doing. For heavy-duty band use or on an active stage, I would step up a little and find something with a heavier cord and clamp.

Works great with my tuner. It is sometimes hard to find a spot to clip it to on my Pearl flute (765 RBE). I love that I can tune even when the rest of the band (70 or so strong) are doing other things!

This works great for my tuner! I play the French horn, and I am able to personally tune even in an ensemble tuning scenario! Works very well, and is very lightweight!
