Great Product but DO NOT BUY FROM OPTIC SALES
Fits and works great on my Nikon ProStaff. As I expected from Nikon, another great product!DO NOT BUY FROM OPTIC SALES!!! I felt Amazon should know what HORRIBLE SELLER and PEOPLE these guys (optic sales) are!!I placed an order with Optic Sales on amazon.com. I received a "leave feedback for this seller" BEFORE I ever got the item. I ordered the item the morning of March 22 as of April 5 I STILL had not gotten the order so I stated that in the feedback and I said if I did not get it in a few days I would be filling a complaint. My order FINALLY arrived April 8. I was contacted a day later by the seller Optic Sales asking me to remove the feedback. I told them "NO, what if a friend or relative was thinking of ordering from you. If I changed my feedback then they will think the transaction was fine and it was not! It would be wrong because the feedback was correct. So then the "Customer rep." tells me he would refund the cost of shipping. I told him it was not about money it was the fact that I had waited almost THREE 3 weeks for my order. I told him if he wants to make it right to send me another of the same item for free then I would remove the feedback. I knew they would not be willing to go that far, or at least I thought.Well at that point the seller told me "go screw yourself" YES actually told me to go SCREW MY SELF!!! I hung up on the fool and called "Optic Sales" back and told a different customer rep (a lady) what had taken place and that I would be letting Amazon know what a horrible seller they have representing Amazone.com, whom I love and order stuff all the time. I gave the customer rep lady at "Optic Sales" my phone number, name and address so she would know EXACTLY who was calling making the complaint. This was Amazon's reply. Thanks for letting us know about this issue. Asking you to change the seller rating or feedback you posted is a violation of our Community Rules posted here: http://www.amazon.com/seller-communityViolations of our Participation Agreement, of which these Community Rules are a part, can result in suspension of the seller's Amazon.com account. I've filed a report to our Seller team on your behalf. All reports are investigated thoroughly, though for privacy reasons we do not share the results of our investigations. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you for choosing Amazon.com.I'm not sure of amazon's final ruling but I see they are still selling on amazon, will take every opportunity I have to let you know DO NOT BUY FROM OPTIC SALES. ...Ron

Helps with Sun Glare.
Pros: Helps with sun glare, Doesn't weigh much.Cons: Price (does it really cost that much to make a plastic sunshade? For the price, it is only worth purchasing one of these shades but it is helpful when making those shots into the sunlight.Probably won't purchase another one just because of the price though.

A perfect match for a Nikon 4-12x40
This fits perfectly on my Nikon 4-12x40, and the color matches the black matte of my scope perfectly. Does what it's intended to do, eliminate glare. Also keeps my lens clean from debris and accidental smudges. I used it in the a light rain once and it kept all water from reaching the lens. My only complaint, and a small one at that, is cosmetic. For some reason the design places the lettering at the top of the sunshade and not at the bottom. Stands out on an all black gun. I don't know if the threading would work out differently for other people, but I wish they would have left the lettering off all together.Overall, very satisfied with the sunshade. A bit on the expensive side ($27 when I bought it), but worth the money. If I buy another Prostaff I will buy another one of these shades to compliment it.** UPDATE **Bought another one of these shades for an identical Nikon scope and can confirm the lettering does not line up the same. On my new scope the lettering is off to one side instead of the top. The lettering annoys me because it reads "Made in Philippines". I guess that's better than "Made in China".

Nikon Sunshade - somewhat
can't believe a big shot company like Nikon would release these to the public, the Outside Diameter is NOT even the same as the O.D. of the scope, so you end up with this odd step between the shade and the scope - which also makes it difficult to size the scope cap (like from Butler Creek) which you would specify - so, one star, easy fix make the O.D. of the shade the same as the O.D. of the scope it is used on (really?) - and when you fix it , send me one - and I will give a favorable review - honestly - for 25 bucks? - you can't just make these right, have someone talk to the folks at Leupold, they get it right!!!!

Function over fashion
It does the job a sunshade should but it’s narrower than the scope so it looks kinda ugly

perfect for what I needed
I bought this to go on my 3-9x40 nikon scope as I get wonderful sun in the mornings facing my stand. This sun shade works magic. kills the glare through my scope and fits my 4-12x40 nikon prostaff scope as well so it can use it for several different guns. It makes my reticle stand out better with out the sun blinding me or fading my reticle out. I had to take the rear sight off my savage but it was well worth it.

Nice quality but
I bought this shade for a nikon prostaff 4-12. It is well made and threaded to the scope fine but was not the same outside diameter as the exit side of the scope lens ie it looked like two pieces when screwed in.I mainly wanted it for the looks. . but it looks bad so buy for functionality.

Does the job but a few questions for Nikon???
Made of aluminum. I use mine on a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Rimfire scope. Nikon USUALLY sets the bar very high.Update: I noticed that this sunshade has white lettering on the outside that detracts from the beauty of this cover. This advertisment for Nikon is in the wrong place or does it even need to be there? Also the sunshade screws into the scope threads ending up being a smaller diameter than the scope which makes it look like the wrong sunshade? What was Nikon thinking here? It works but I call it a poor design. Shame on you Nikon because you do make high quality scopes which I own several. I would NOT buy this again nor recommend it. If you need a sunshade be sure to look at the scope and sunshade together before you commit to a purchase.
