Gate closes for 2 minutes then opens its backwards

Welcome to TOPENS! I think in this case, you need to adjust the position of the gate bracket and limit switch B. Also please increase the stall force and decrease the soft stop period. May I ask if your Gate Opener is set on the Pull to Open or the Push to Open mode? If it is a Pull to Open Gate, first release the clutch and manually set the gate at the opening position. The arm should be fully retracted at the moment. Fix the Gate Bracket. Then engage the clutch, use the remote control to close the gate, then adjust the limit switch. If the gate is closed too tight, the limit switch should be adjusted inward. If it is a half-way close, the limit switch should be adjusted outward. The Push to Open Gate is just the opposite. Please first release the clutch using the key, then manually set the gate at the closing position, so the arm should be retracted to the upmost. Please fix the Gate Bracket. Then use the key to engage the clutch, use the remote control to the open the door, then adjust the limited switch. If the door is opened beyond where it should be, then the longer limit switch should be adjusted inward a little bit. If it is a half-way open, the limit switch should be adjusted outward. Please also disconnect the circuit board from the power source, turn the Potentiometer A clockwise to the maximum to increase the stall force, then turn the Potentiometer C counterclockwise to the minimum to decrease the soft stop period. Please connect the circuit board to the power source, press remote to let the gate opener run one cycle, it should perform better starting from the second cycle. If i buy this kit and the 12v batteries separately will i have everything i need to use it right away? is there anything else i'd need to buy?

Welcome to TOPENS! Please note that this model A8S requires a 24V 12Ah battery or two 12V 12Ah connected in series. Besides the batteries, there're a few hardware tools you might need to prepare for the installation of the kit. I know that it states max 18' gate and the max, will it work on the 20' tube gate?

Welcome to TOPENS! The maximum length of the gate that A8S can work with is 18 feet and the weight of the 18ft gate should be within 250lbs. It will not work on a 20' gate.

Does this need a lot of sunlight ? I live in western New York not much sun and it’s cold right now will battery hold or will the cold weather ruin it

Welcome to TOPENS! The working temperature of this model A8S is -4°F to 122°F (-20℃~ +50℃). Common waterproof marine or automotive type batteries will normally work fine in cold weather. If there isn't sufficient sunlight, it is suggested to add extra solar panels (total 40W) and use 12Ah batteries.
