right off the bat these are the flaws of this product: #1 the vertical printing wheel's letters are needlessly much smaller than the horizontal one, but I could tell that in the pictures, didn't like it, but decided to live with it, #2 the door where the tape reel goes in doesn't latch nor secure in any way so when i turn it upside down accidentally or on purpose, the door comes open ant he tape falls out #3 There are NO worthwhile , readable instructions with the listing or with the product when you get it so you have to figure out where/what the features are at/for. To that end, here is a hint on the tape cutting, it's entirely different from another product of the same type by the same company, AND the other cheaper product has a secured tape compartment. But the cheaper one doesn't print vertically AND the horizontal print is in the tiny font , which is unclear blurred & doesn't stand out well from the background even though it too uses 3/8" tape (only)!After using it, here are a few more issues with this item: #1 the letters start coming off right away because they are only painted on, unlike the cheaper one I got with one wheel and horizontal mode only.; #2 No symbols or punctuation on either wheel, just letters, numbers, a dot and a slash. the other one I have has lots of symbols and almost all of the punctuations.with this item, In fact the small font is useless like only HALF the width of the 3/8 tape. Also mine came with 3 3/8" rolls instead of 1 1/4" roll and 2 3/8" ones, which is good since the quarter inch seems ENTIRELY too small for anything but the small font in the vertical, which is almost TOO SMALL TO READ ANYWAY.Pros: it seems to type in a straight line, unlike the cheaper version. It prints vertically albeit in tiny font , unlike the substantially cheaper version and it seems to be more robust than the cheaper version I bought and was not satisfied with. Overall I believe I got what I expected and paid for except for the unsecured tape handle cover, which I scotch taped closed.

I really like this label maker! I have always wanted one for journaling and other muti-media projects but never thought to find one for some reason - until now. It is not hard to figure out and use. I had my first label embossed within a few minutes of opening the box and can tell I will use it many times over! The only reason for the four stars instead of five is that it is not terribly sturdy feeling. But it's a good product for the price and may last a long time anyway. Highly recommend! Great purchase!

Always wanted one of these since childhood. Only issue is that there is no way of knowing how much space is on the end of the label. You need to click the trigger a few times but only halfway to get the label to be a little longer. Once you figure that out through trial and error you will be loving it.

It does the job, but there are a few drawbacks. If you were to use this with 6 mm tape (it comes with 9 mm) the letters are so large they probably wouldn't fit... I thought at first the second letter wheel was for the smaller font size, but it actually only makes the text vertical. Also, the letter wheels don't contain the numbers 1 or 0, so you have to use the letters I or O. The picture on the box clearly has a 1 printed out, which is misleading.

Works good but the labels come off product easily. Used to makeover my pantry and labels don't stick to glass very well long term.

So far I love it! I hope it lasts a long time. Seems perfect so far.

I love how it has that vintage look and design and that it works a lot better than the new ones that are made this day and age. I believe that everybody should get one of these Dymo 1610 Embossing Label Makers considering the fair price and durability of the item.

Labels and looks just as described! I had it unboxed and working within 5 minutes. It's very user friendly and I haven't had any trouble with it!! I'm in aesthetic labeling heaven
