Cunningham's Book of Shadows: The Path of An American Traditionalist

If you have been a practitioner of Paganism for even just a few years you have at least perused Cunningham’s works. Let’s face it the man brought many of us pagans into the fold with his book "Wicca" alone and I can’t think of a better general reference to Herbs and there uses then his fine work. If you have followed Cunningham for some time and own many of his works than this book is really just a summation of many of his works, and you probably don't need it. But if you want a distillation of the path he taught all under one cover. Then you need go no further. I like many was indoctrinated over a decade ago by this man’s fine writing, and this is one of the main reasons his works are still in print and continue to be.I am now not even close to a practitioner of Wicca but this is a good book to have in your library even if you aren't. I purchased a copy of this book as a present for a friend, and from what I can tell he has enjoyed it immensely.Now where this book shines is if you happen to be new to the path of Paganism, especially Wicca then you can save yourself a lot of money by buying this book and see what you think. This way if it happens not to be your cup of tea than you save yourself a lot of money by not having to buy many of his whole works, and still have an awesome reference book to contemporary Wicca, and if you do happen to like it, you’re still going to get a lot of use out of the book, especially for the price!

I bought this to replace one that was no that got destroyed in a house incident. It took me several years to decide to replace it, but am so glad I did. For those wondering, the green cover is a removable jacket and the actual book cover is black. I say this because I, like many on this path, do not like excess and prefer to keep books out and about not hidden, and removing jackets (or replacing with homemade book jackets) is quite common.I like this book because it includes about 90 percent of all his other books in here, with the exception of his book on Magical Herbs, as well as his books on Hawaiian Magick. If you do not have any of his books and are looking to add to your library (or are just starting on your own magical path), this is a good place to start. Then look at his other books to see what you need to add to your library for your own journey.

I like this book, but it seems to repeat a lot of info for Scott's other books. You could prob get away with just this book and get 80% of info in all his other books.

Order without knowledge. Flipped through questioning their purchase. Nothing that isnt in his other books. Ploy to milk collectors for more money.

Spent many years trying to get a copy of this book after reading a library copy long ago. Incredibly informative and well-written. I would highly recommend this, or any other book by Scott Cunningham. It's been perfect for starting my own grimoire :) I can't recommend this book more highly!

This was a great book, though there wasn't much fact and story in it about the past, I love that part especially. I loved that it really was a complete BOS, however I did find it in a way disrespectful to publish someones BOS, it was still a great asset and continues to be. I love the part in the beginning of the book "Before Time Was" where Scott tells the creation story, I loved it and use it in examples to many students of mine.Blessed Be Scott, though you are gone my friend your work is your successor!

This is a very comprehensive Cunningham book. If you would like to example of a good book of shadows this is it. Book showed up with minimal damage. Overall happy with transaction.

LOVE THIS

I enjoyed this book because, as an avid fan of Cunningham's writings, this book was like a time capsule. It showed how his ideas developed over the years. It would be a huge mistake to start editing his early writings to make them conform with current views regarding Wicca. I am glad that Llewellyn had the sense not to do that. This book is a wonderful tribute to a great writer.

If this is the path you wish to follow, then this would be a good book for you. Study and keep on studying it.

Wonderful book. Scott Cunningham is a worthy teacher for anyone wanting to understand and practice the Wiccan religion. A perfect companion to his Wicca - A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. We are so fortunate that Scott shared his knowledge of this beautiful and fulfilling spiritual path. I'm grateful to have found his books.
