## Description

watch

Review: If I had to take only one watch on a trip, this would be it. - If I had to keep only one watch, this would be it, because it has basically everything I need in a watch: solar, atomic, LED light, alarms, countdown timer, stopwatch, date, military time, and other features. Here are just a few of the features which I really appreciate. 1) Everything, including the LED, is run by solar. There isn't a separate battery for the LED! 2) It is absolutely accurate--more than a cell phone. (I have it set to calibrate every night). The minute hand and second hand extend far enough so that you can truly see the exact time. No doubt, the engineers wanted this to be a watch that can be trusted for accuracy. 3) The controls are pretty intuitive. 4) I have had no issue with the solar power; it's been on "HI" from day one, and I use all the features regularly. 5) The sapphire glass keeps the glass scratch-free (which aids in getting the best solar charge possible). 6) The titanium makes the watch super light, and doesn't irritate the skin at all. 7) The watch is elegant enough for dress up occasions, yet works well in casual wear. I have a few minor complaints, but they don't affect my 5-star rating. 1) The LED doesn't light up long enough! I usually have to press it once to read the hour hand, and press it again to read the minute hand. Currently, it lights up for about 1.5 seconds. I would prefer at least 2 seconds, or even 3 seconds, of illumination. I doubt a 3-second illumination would drain the power, because currently, I am pressing the light twice. 2) The band does not have a quick-adjust setting. Sometimes, it's just slightly too loose (not enough to take out a link, though). 3) The alarm is not too loud. When my shirt sleeve is covering the watch, and when I'm not paying attention to the alarm, it's not loud enough to get my attention. It's fine on a nightstand by the bed, however. 4) The face has three, thin, black "crosshairs" on it, and the second hand is the same thinness as those lines. This means that when the second hand is at 12:00, 3:00, and 9:00, it is difficult to recognize the second hand at a quick glance, because it blends in with those crosshair lines. Of course, if you wait a second, literally, you'll know where the second hand is. But every now and then, I will check the time and the second hand will seem to be missing. This is a slight annoyance. 5) The hands are rather thin. I realize that they have to be thin so as to not block light from getting to the sensor, but still, I would have liked a slightly large profile for the hands. I want to be able to tell the time at a quick glance. When compared with watches with the same size face, these hands are thinner than most.
Review: The Holy Grail -- if you can get the radio signal - This watch starts with a decent quartz movement that should itself easily be accurate to one second per day. It adds to that the ability to sync daily with the National Institute of Standard's atomic clocks. So it always shows the exact time -- correct to the second, exact enough for human purposes. And it is lightweight, comfortable, nice-looking and never needs winding, batteries (it tops up its battery with solar power), or maintenance. This is the perfect watch. Almost. If you can't reliably receive the shortwave signal from Colorado then its a good quartz watch but probably no better than others that cost less. (Other reviews suggest ways around that problem. The instructions suggest keeping it near a window at night, though I haven't had to do that.) There isn't a lot of visual contrast between the dial and the narrow hands (much less than suggested by the desertcart product photos) so seeing the time can sometimes take more than just a quick glance. (The same watch is available with a blue dial that should provide more contrast, though that dial differs slightly from this one.) The watch needs light to keep the battery charged, though the need is not extreme or bothersome; a normal day for normal people should be fine. The electronic functions available are a bit fiddly but no more so than in most watches with such functions. (Like most people, except for the time and date I don't use them anyway.) My seller delivered the watch with a set of English instructions (along with the Japanese instructions made for this Japan-market product). They are long and in small type. But setup takes only a couple of steps. First, choose your location by selecting from a list of major cities; there is one in your time zone. The watch will then set itself to your local time and to the shortwave frequency of the time signal available to you. Second, set it to your language unless you want to learn the Japanese symbols for the days of the week. (Those who live in Arizona also need to turn off the automatic Daylight Savings Time function.) A few reviewers complain about the watchband but I don't quite know why. Perhaps they expect and want the weight of a steel band; titanium is much lighter. The band seems sturdy and looks fine. But it is very long; you will need to remove at least a few links unless you are, literally, a gorilla. Instructions for that are not in the box but are easily available online.

**Q: Does the Japanese model also display english**
A: Yes.

**Q: What is the titanium grade on this watch?**
A: I don't know anything about titanium grades.

I've had this watch for about 2 years. No issues until I kept it in a dark place too long. Eventually got it going again.

This is a great watch. Just let it rest in a place with some light, at least some artificial light.

**Q: Can we remove the bands and replace for leather straps or the bands are proprietary integrated?**
A: The metal bracelet is removeable

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great watch with one problem . . . the metal band wears very quickly.
*by M***R on June 11, 2024*

I liked this watch so much I bought another one. It really is the perfect timepiece. However, the band quality is really inferior and my two watches have very scuffed bands/clasps after only several months of intermittent use. I am now purchasing silicone bands. The watch itself is no problem and looks like new.
