Does this thermometer save the last temperature on its memory?

No it doesn't, it doesn't have a memory function. But if I remember right it came with a little printed spreadsheet so that you could manually record the information.

What batteries does this take?

Hi, It uses a 1.5V DC Button Battery (size LR41). A battery is supplied with the Thermometer.
