Opinel DIY No.9 Stainless Steel Folding Knife and Multi-tool

Much more handy then I thought it would be! Its my EDC now and I cant live without it . It holds an edge like all Opinel knives and strips wire , cuts thin wire , two bits and a great driver handle ! You can really torque down on a screw with it like a screw driver multi-tools are always awkward when trying to screw things in! Great Opinel very firm handle great all around knife !

The No. 9 Bridolage is something out of the norm for Opinel. It's a quite a bit larger than the No. 6, No. 7's.The handle is rubberized with two slots that fit a standard hex bit. The two bits included with this knife are a standard and phillips head screw driver heads. They fit securely but they are easy to remove. Once out, the fit into the butt end of the handle for use as a screwdriver.The blade has two slots that are designed to cut and strip wires. As with other Opinel folders, this comes with a very effective collar locking system. After opening the knife simply rotate (twist) the collar and the blade is solidly locked into the open position.I guess you could call this a multitool but it's mostly just a nice knife plus a screw driver(s). The wire cutouts will work but they aren't a replacement for real strippers.That said, I really like this knife. You really get a lot for what you pay and it's an original.

A recent issue of Field and Stream rated the knife the #1 best in the world in quality and value for the price. I bought it because of that statement, and I must agree with them. Sure, you can spend $200+ on a gem of a knife, but this #9 knife is made very well and is a great all around utility as a screw driver also. If it ever gets lost you can replace it cheaply. As for a case, amazon sells a CLC #768 case for carrying pliers that fits perfectly for the #9 knife. It will keep it safe from getting lost.

My hubby loves Opinel knives and I have bought him an assortment of them over the years... this one is great for his " bug out bag" as it offers practical and thoughtful gadgets to use in the real world.The handle is a nice alternative touch to wood as he wouldn't want to keep that in his bag due to the temperature fluctuations in our city.Overall a great knife at a great price.

I'm becoming an Opinel fan pretty quick. I like this model a lot. The main drawback for me is that the No. 9 sized handle is just sightly too large for pocket carry. I believe the reason for this is to accommodate the driver and bit holders. The fit in existing No. 8 sheaths is also a bit snug, and the bits on the side will definitely wear any fabric covering the sheath button.While I do like and still carry this occasionally I seem to prefer the No. 8 models I have for EDC.

I was a bit skeptical about buying this knife. I own many other Opinels and couldn't think of a practical reason to pick one up. I finally did and it's the most useful Opinel I own. As a work knife, it suits all my needs. I really like the blade shape. It's sharper than my gerber box cutter! Best investment I have made to date!

My boyfriend is a knife guy with tons of pocket knives and saw this brand and wanted to try it out, he loves the multitool aspect with the screw bits and has now used a few time around the house he will definitely buy again

I like this knife alot, especially having the screw driver built into it. But the blade is significantly less sharp than other opineal Knives, and for that reason I can't recommend it

Una recensione deve fare le pulci per mettere sulla giusta strada eventuali prossimi clienti e io le faccio.Pesante, molto nel trekking dove contano i grammi che ti carichi non utileIl modello è un numero 9 con lama da lavoro grande e sgraziata rispetto alle lame tradizionali opinelGrosso ed ingombrante nelle mani, io per fortuna ho mani grosse in mani esili pare sproporzionatoAl tatto la plastica dell'impugnatura non dà le stesse sensazioni del legno ,ma essendo uno strumento di lavoro mi sembra dovuta, gli inserti sono di misura standard non dedicati, potete usare quelli per avvitatori normali in caso li perdiate cosa facile,se non comprate la custodia intorno ai 12 euro, potevano metterci il classico laccetto visto che ha i fori,la lama affilata e robusta,mi sembra maggiormente spessa in confronto a quella standard.In definitiva uno strumento per il lavoro da tenere nella cassetta degli attrezzi non in tasca forse utile per chi ha barca o gommone non per outdoor,la versione opinel del victorinox non brilla in questa opzione il victorinox lo usava Mc Gyver e dico tutto. Se siete cultori del marchio un gadget da aggiungere alla collezione oppure siete dei devoti del bricolage un attrezzo in più, per il mio caso, sono un cultore del campeggio e trek inutile. Consiglio dato peso ingombro e i 2 inserti acquisto fodero.

Im Gegensatz zu vielen eher dekorativ angelegten Klappmesser, die man sich wegen möglicher Kratzer nicht zu benutzen traut, ist dies ein Werkzeug. Nicht schön, aber absolut zweckmäßig, der gelbe Griff wird sicherlich durch schmutzige Finger die Farbe ändern. Die Klinge ist scharf und so groß, dass man damit auch Kraft ausüben kann. Dünnere Verdrahtungsleitung kann man ohne weiteres schneiden und gut abisolieren. Allerdings würde ich dies nicht den ganzen Tag mit diesem Messer tun wollen, dafür gibt es entsprechende Zangen. Aber wenn ich für eine Reparatur ausrücken muss, um vielleicht auf der Leiter irgendwo elektrische Dinge zu reparieren, dann ist dieses Messer gut.Die beiden Bits sehe ich als nettes Gimmick, man kann damit vielleicht ein paar Verkleidungsteile abschrauben oder ähnliches. Dort wo ein Elektromann Kabel verlegt ist das mehr Spielerei.An Ende sehe ich ein gutes Werkzeug, das ab jetzt in meinem Servicekoffer bleibt.

Bits sind praktisch und lassen sich durch normale Bits ersetzen (bspw. Torx etc.). Das Griffende ist breiter was leider dafür sorgt, das man an manche Schrauben schlecht bis gar nicht erreicht. Bei offen liegenden Schrauben ist das allerdings kein Thema.Die Klinge und der Stahl gefallen mir sehr und besser als bei den normalen Opinels. 12c27 Stahl verwendet z.B. Mora und deren Messer sind in der Preisklasse über jeden Zweifel erhaben.Die Kerbe mit dem Fadenschneider hätte ich nicht gebraucht, einen Faden kann ich eher besser mit der Klinge anschneiden als mit einer Kerbe. Auch die Kerbe zum Abisolieren würde ich nicht brauchen, auch das kann man mit der Klinge.Also ohne Kerben= Mehr Klinge. Da ich mit meinem Messer meistens schneide, wäre mir eine durchgehende Klinge lieber. Aber das bewerte ich nicht als negativ.Negativ ist, das der Schließmechanismus sehr schlecht ist (bei den Holz Opinels ist er besser). Beim Arbeiten lockert sich der Ring ruck zuck. Zudem ein leichtes horizontales Wackeln mit geschlossenem Ring lässt den Verschuss auf gehen und die Klinge kann zu Verletzungen führen.Störend sind die Bitfächer. Bei längeren Arbeiten fühlt sich das Messer unangenehm in der Hand an (kann man aber mit Leben, da dieses Messer ein ganz klares Arbeitsmesser ist)Wären diese Probleme mit dem Verschuss nicht... 4-5 Sterne. So schwanke ich zwischen 2-3. Wobei der Stahl mit eher zu 3 tendieren lässt.

Curieusement la lame n'est pas plus longue que sur un n°8 en bois... Le manche est donc relativement long avec un petit déséquilibre esthétique : la fente pour la lame est d'ailleurs plus longue que nécessaire... Comme si ce n'était pas la bonne lame pour le couteau !?La forme de la lame y est peut etre pour quelque chose. De plus, la longueur disponible pour la coupe est petite du fait des encoches.Inversement la prise en main est bonne. La lame est plus épaisse sur sa première partie. Les encoches à dénuder pratiques (une pour la gaine, une pour chaque fils).La bague est légère par rapport aux autres, léger jeu et l'impression que si on force pour ouvrir avec la lame bloquée par la virole (bague), cette dernière va sauter... en tout les cas, elle se déforme si l'on force à peine. Le marquage n°09 (tiens, deux chiffres maintenant pour un n°9 sur les modèles en bois?!) est peu profondément inscrit...Quand on travaille sérieusement avec des à-coups, la virole tourne toute seule et libère la lame : il faut limer la virole pour ne plus avoir le blocage en biais mais plus horizontal. On peut aussi limer les viroles des anciens OPINELs qui n'avaient pas le blocage fermé pour l'ajouter. C'est de l'inox, donc meuleuse ou huile de coude...Il y a du nouveau de plus en plus souvent chez Opinel... mais la qualité de ce couteau n'est pas celle des classiques.Utile, pratique mais la qualité n'y est pas parfaite.
