JB Weld works great!
I used JB Weld Marine to repair a chip on the lower unit of my boat motor, and it worked great. The application was straightforward, and it adhered very well to the metal surface. After giving it proper cure time, the patch held strong and smoothed out perfectly. It's been through several outings on the water since the repair, and it's held up without any issues. I’ve always had good results with JB Weld products and this is no exception. The 3rd party testers always rate JB Weld high on the video platforms. For my project, I was using this epoxy to fill small screw holes in white gel coat on my boat. These repairs were not visible, so I wasn’t concerned with color match. Using this product along with the JB Weld mixing nozzle gave me the precise control I needed to fill the holes without making a mess. A little sanding after the epoxy cured was all that was required. The putty epoxy also works well for this kind of filler repair. JB Weld makes that as well and it’s easy to use.

Great small project substitute for 3M 5200
Happy with this as small project substitute for 3M 5200. Aging well in the package doing many small projects long after purchase. Keep the tips clean when you put the cap back on.

Can be sanded
Worked good on a door jam repair. Sanded quite well also

Too Soft after 24 hours
Tried patching dremeled out chip in boat gelcoat. Had rubbery feel that would not Sand Smooth after 24 hours. Not hard after 30 hours. Was kind of pissed off, but it got hard enough to sand after 48 hours. Dries white white, that was not a match to maybe my oyster white old boat gel coat. ... I am switch to JB Weld Marine Putty, and some other products for my gel coat patching.
