Ballistic BLCSX0932M385 Case for Samsung Galaxy SIII SG MAXX - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black and White

I purchased this Ballistic case a couple of months ago and it has been great! The Rearth Ringbo Screen Protectors I purchased at the same time, on the other hand, were worthless. You can see my comments about the worthless Rearth Ringbo Screen Protectors under that disappointing product's reviews. I was looking for a case to preserve my very fine Galaxy S3 for the two years remaining on my contract. It Is a fabulous phone, but its beautiful, thin, slippery design was regularly slipping out of anything that was holding it, including any pocket or my hands. For Android phones, it appeared the toughest cases where the Ballistic and the OtterBox Defender. I chose the Ballistic because it was clear from from several video demonstrations this case protected the phone from all kinds of mayhem, and I thought the design concept was superior to the OtterBox. Having the more shock absorbent silicone layer next to the phone, inside the sturdy polycarbonate layer, made more sense to me. Impact from a sharp point would be distributed by the poly carbonate layer across the silicone inside. The extra protection at the corners just made even more sense. A few summary bullet points: 1. While this case makes the phone larger, it is an excellent vehicle for holding on to the phone! I no longer drop it. The corner protectors are great for my thumb and second finger to hold and control the phone and the polycarbonate back has just enough tactile feel to stay in my hand. In addition, while the volume and on/off buttons work easily through the case, I am no longer accidentally pushing them as I try to hold onto the slippery art object. I think the feel of the phone is great in the case, and it makes using the phone a pleasure instead of an adventure. 2. I am using the screen protector that came with the case, and it is perfectly satisfactory. After the utter fail by the Rearth Ringbo screen protectors I just assembled the phone in the Ballistic case. It is true the screen protector creates a very small amount of graininess, but functionally it is no issue and touch control is fine. Since my goal was to have this phone last two years, I had always intended to use the Ballistic screen cover on top of the failed Rearth Ringbo screen protectors. For the added protection that it provides, I am a big fan. (It is a separate piece so it can be left off the case.) 3. The holster seems to be sturdy and the clamp has room for a belt, so it can slide along the belt. Access to all buttons and insertion points is preserved. 4. The only con I have is that the return button at the lower right hand corner of the screen sometimes is a little difficult to use on the first push because of the silicone knob from the corner protector. It is never impossible to use, however, and I love knowing the phone is not going to break when I drop it, anywhere.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a fantastic phone with great specs (except for their pulling the 4-core processor). However, after watching the drop test on You-Tube pitting the S3 against the Apple iPhone 4, and HTC One, I knew that I needed some serious protection for my new S3. After comparing a number of alternatives, I chose the Ballistic SG Maxx, which is now a bargain on Amazon since they dropped the price. A bare S3 weighs practically nothing and is as lithe as a ballerina. Put 'er in the SG Maxx and she's ready for the real world -- and a 15 foot drop. The case nearly triples the thickness and may nearly double the weight, but, to me, it's neither too heavy nor too thick -- it just feels solid -- and secure. (Not much different from my S1 in a simple TPU case.) With the SG Maxx you get what they call four layers of protection: 1. Soft shock-absorbing gel surrounds the sides and back of the phone, molded to fully cover the On/Off and Volume controls, with hinged tabs for the ear-bud jack and micro-USB connector, an a couple of small holes for the mics. 2. Molded into the corners of the case are much firmer shock-absorbing pads, which protrude enough that when you set or drop the phone face down on a flat surface, the screen never gets close to it. 3. A solid, molded screen protector slips over the front of the phone with its edges tucked under the gel liner. I was afraid that this very thin, but very solid piece of plastic would interfere with the touch screen, but it doesn't. Cutouts allow for the primary control button, speaker, and camera. 4. A hard case snaps over the gel liner and holds everything together. A textured layer of very dense gel is molded onto the back of the case for a good grip and extra shock absorption. Holes in the back reveal the rear camera, flash, and speaker. Additionally, you get a very solid belt loop case, into which the phone very easily and securely snaps -- face in, so the screen is fully protected. The solid, spring-loaded belt loop allows the case to be easily removed, but seems like it would never come off accidentally. I'm sure that it's still possible to destroy the phone by smashing the screen hard enough against the corner of a table, or dropping her into a toilet; however, I'm convince that my lithe ballerina now has enough protection to protect her from most of the dangers with which life is fraught. The only complaint I have about the case, is that the hinged tabs that are supposed to protect the ear-bud jack and the micro-USB connecter, never quite fit and always protrude a little. Other than that, the case seems perfect.

I do not have much to add to other reviews, but I'd like to point out one thing. Some have said the screen protector had a matt finish that made the device hard to see. I think the folks at Ballistic listened as mine, that I received on 2/12/2014 has a very nicely clear appearance. I certainly do not see any difficulty in seeing the screen with this covering the screen on my Galaxy SIII. I have been using the Otterbox for about a year and while I like it just fine. the Ballistic is a little lighter and easier to hold. It may just be my imagination, but I think something about the Otterbox "maybe" partially obscured the speaker for the ear and I think I hear better with this cover on the SIII. I think that's pretty subjective, obviously. I do think the belt clip is DRAMATICALLY better than the Otter, which is designed to also serve as a stand for the device. The problem is that the belt clip on the Otter tends to stick in the "open" or stand position when you try and put it on your belt. The Ballistic belt clip has a nice springy clip and an opening that I measure as just slightly wider than 1.5 inches(right at 4 cm) so it fits comfortably on a standard sized men's belt. I took away one star because my only complaint is that the screen cover sure is a flimsy piece of plastic. I think it would have made more sense to have it fit a bit more securely around the sides of the device. Everyone's a critic I guess. Wanted to add, that I have noticed lately that when I typed with the SIII in the Otterbox case I kept hitting for example the o and I'd get an I. But with the Ballistic case typing on the onscreen keyboard seems significantly more accurate. I also now think my comment about the screen protector being a bit flimsy was too quickly stated. It does exactly what it needs to do. Wow, this is a great case and highly protective. The belt clip is very comfortable. You know I used to like using leather cases like the Piel Frama Magnum and for shear beauty that case cannot be beat, but the belt clip kept breaking. I'm hard on phone cases. If you are a guy in particular, leading a busy working day, I'm inclined to say, the only case for just about any smartphone to even consider is this Ballistic Case. Add that to the incredibly low price offered her on Amazon and I did buy mine here on Amazon, I think this case can't be beat. And if you are girl you can even get it in pink.!!!!!

After researching countless cases I decided if I was going to put a case on my phone the most important factor in the decision would be protection. As far as I am concerned. a case that cannot protect a phone from a drop is pointless. The Galaxy S3 is svelte, sleek, and shatterable phone from Samsung. Using a case to improve aesthetics is silly. The true weakness of the S3 isn't looks but in the PC chassis. One reviewer described the S3 as a ballerina, delicate yet still powerful, pirouetting in a leotard all over the world. This describes the S3 nicely. All it needs is protection. So, now onto the Ballistic SG MAXX case. This is one of two cases used in tests dropped from over 5 feet and then face down from 3 feet. Both cases passed. Now it was down to the aforementioned MAXX or the Otterbox Defender. Overall three flaws factored in my decision between these two fine cases. These three flaws in the Otterbox Defender's design were its screen protector, the hard to press the power/volume buttons, and the complaints about adding/removing the case. The Defender's front shell plate has a plastic screen protector glued to it. While this can be removed carefully ad tedium the design should allow for more flexibility. Next the hard to press volume rocker and power buttons are frustrating but not a major issue since they should soften up over time. Lastly, removing of the case is not a major issue either but the Defender is not as easy to add/remove as most phones and that includes the SG MAXX. All the flaws that detracted from the Defender are not to be found within the SG MAXX. It has a separate screen protector to apply or remove at your leisure. The silicone case buttons feel nice and are easy to press. And the case is simple to add or remove. Upon arrival I instantly fell in love with the blue/cobalt SG MAXX. Such a perfect case. The color is very nice. The case feels solid and well made. So satisfied with my choice I bought another case for my lady. She wanted the Defender at first until I showed her the three flaws. In closing, if you are looking for great protection from a case look no further. If you want something stylish remember the S3 nude is as sexy as its going to get. Other cases are lingerie, the SG MAXX is hard leather armor.

I am currently very pleased with this product. When I first got the S3, the guy at the Sprint store suggested I get an Otterbox Defender or some other robust protector. I am familiar with the Otterbox brand, but there was no way I was going to pay $50+ at the store. The very same day I got my phone a friend told me about some other brand with rubber edges that is rated from like a 15 foot drop. When I started searching for Otterbox on Amazon, I saw a blue case with rubber edges that cost less than the Otterbox and was in blue! I saw it was the Ballistic SG Maxx, saw it was cheaper than the Otterbox Defender, read the reviews and was convinced. The Galaxy S3 is an amazing and beautiful phone, but it does not feel very sturdy. I am clumsy and the S3 feels like it will shatter on impact if I were to sneeze on it too hard. The Ballistic SG Maxx takes care of that easily. It has four layers of protection which may sound like a lot and like it may totally roid out and bulk up your phone too much, but the thickness it gives the S3 is very welcomed and comfortable. The big, rubber edges are perhaps a tiny teeny bit bigger than they need to be, but they do not get in the way and I like the way it makes my phone look like its been working out or wearing some cool, futuristic armor. I feel I can comfortably drop my phone from 15ft and it can fall on any side, including the face, and it will be very well protected...not that I'd start throwing my phone on the ground for no reason. And then there's the belt clip...which just perfectly ties this product together. I enjoy my Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Big Macs a bit more than I should so I have a few extra pounds...ah what the heck and let me be honest; I'm fat and have gotten used to wearing my phone on my hip. The belt clip, although it may look too big at first, is not. My love handles totally don't get in the way and I can get to my phone with ease, but if i do get much fatter, I might have to start lifting the folds to get to the phone. Is there anything wrong with the SG Maxx? Not really. There a few minor complaints, but they don't detract from how good this product is overall. One little concern I had, and another reviewer mentioned this, is that although the screen protector is sturdy and doesn't interfere with the touch screen, it kind of makes the screen look a little grainy. The other complaint I have, which is a first world problem, is that the belt clip does not have a kickstand like the Otterbox Defender. The Otterbox also costs anywhere from $3-$7 more (or even more depending on how greedy the seller is) so I don't think a kickstand is worth that much. In conclusion, finally, Ballistic SG Maxx is freaking awesome. I give it five very well deserved stars. And it comes in blue, so that makes it extra cool, but Amazon has no option for a sixth star.

I have read a few reviews on this case stating that the case blocked the home, back, and menu buttons. This is a complete lie! The truth is the back and menu buttons on the Galaxy SIII are hit too easily without this case and the case by no means blocks access to these buttons. The black and white color combination of this case matches the SIII white color scheme exactly. The case is solid and sturdy and even though I have read some reviews stating the case was bulky, it was obvious to me that they had never had a bulk case before because this case is quite slim in comparison to other cases I have had. Besides your are never going to get a good case without adding some thickness to the phone and I think it is a small price to pay for piece of mind considering I paid $300.00 for my SIII. The belt clip is strong and the phone feels totally secure when it is on my belt. The only thing I do not like was the screen protector that came with the case. It does "cloud" up the high definition screen of the SIII. It is too thick and makes using the touch screen more difficult. That being said, just do not use the screen protector that comes with the case, buy some HD screen protectors and you will be very happy. I have read another review on this case that stated the screen protector that came with the case has to be used because it clips onto the phone before the case is attached and the case will not fit properly with out the screen protector that is supplied. This is also a lie. I have taken the supplied screen protector off and am using the rest of the case with no fitment issues at all. As a matter of fact it is easier to install the rest of the case WITHOUT the supplied screen protector and it fits perfectly. To be quite honest if you are looking for an affordable case that performs like a case that costs 2 to 3 times more, look no further, just pick the color you want and buy it. This case is the best I have found for my SIII. You will not be disappointed.

This case was nice and sturdy when it arrived. The colors were bold and everything was as it should be in great condition. The case goes on easily enough, although in multiple steps, and fits snugly over the phone, while still allowing you to use the buttons and other functions. The bright color makes it simple to locate and identify, and the case offers a nice bit of added protection. The multiple layers help you feel more at ease when carrying around a rather fragile looking and feeling phone. This compares to more expensive brands at a lower cost and can take a drop or impact without issue or harm to the case or the phone. That said, the rubber piece that slides over the phone started to stretch after being removed multiple times. This made it fit less snugly and allowed for some movement. It also makes getting the other pieces on correctly a little more difficult. The rotating clip was a nice feature, but it moved when bumped or pressed, which left the phone turned and in the way too many times. This was a problem playing sports, when running and even driving the car. A twist the wrong direction left it poking into my side or leg and having to be fixed. After only a few weeks of use, this was retired and replaced by an Otterbox case that worked much better for my needs.

Back in September I purchased my first Samsung Galaxy S3. (Yes, I said "first" so you know that this first phone is not going to have a happy ending.) I also had purchased the official Samsung "protective" flip cover. One month later, my device fell about 3' and landed screen down flat on my ceramic tile floor. I thought nothing of it since there were no chips, cracks, scuff marks, or breaks. No visible damage whatsoever. However, a little later I pressed the button to activate the screen and... nothing. No display. Talk about feeling sick inside. I spoke to the Verizon rep on the phone who walked me through a couple of troubleshooting procedures and still nothing. So on to Samsung Galaxy S3 number 2. Needless to say, I spent considerable time researching protective covers for my new Samsung Galaxy S3. The Ballistic SG MAXX reviews and product demos won me over. This product definitely feels very solid. The corners are well protected and it also comes with a protective screen cover which I now view as a necessity based upon past experience. I'm really not concerned at all that the case adds a little bulk to the phone. I wanted something that would do the job promised. One week ago my Ballistic case had its first true test when my Samsung Galaxy S3 again fell from about hip height onto my ceramic tile floor. (Why does this phone always land on ceramic tile???) The phone landed on the top left corner and it quite literally bounced about 6" after it hit due to the protective rubber material on the corners of the Ballistic case. It took me an hour to work up the courage to try to activate the screen. Holding my breath, I pressed the button, and... IT WORKED!!! I am so sold on this product! And I have no hesitation in recommending this case to others including family and friends (and strangers). This case is a blessing. Get one.

This product gets a full 5 stars. I have bought several different gel phone protector cases while having my Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, and found this one to be by far the best - and which I have now permanently on the phone. The gel protector case is very sturdy and from the months I have had the protector case on the phone it has not shown any signs of wear. Also there is a solid back plate which fits round the back of the gel protector case to give it extra protection from impacts. The side buttons on the phone can be easily operated and the holes for the ear-phone jack and USB ports have flaps which protect them. I particularly like the solid plastic screen protector. Unlike stick-on plastic sheet protectors this is a solid protector for the screen and is held in place by the gel protector case and does not require messy stick-on adhesive to hold it in place. The phone screen is responsive even with the screen protector on. Recently, I had to remove the gel case to fit a wireless (QI) power charger receiver to the phone to allow wireless charging (so don't have to plug USB power cable in to charge). After a quick dust, the phone had been well protected by the case and looked like new. I saw that the phone was able to wirelessly (QI) charge without the case, I then replaced the gel case and the phone was able to wirelessly (QI) power charge with the case on. I do not generally write reviews or recommendations, but I would fully recommend this product, and have written this recommendation in the hope that rigid plastic screen protectors and this type of armoured case do become mainstream.

I purchased this case the day I got my phone but the screen protector cracked (left it in a truck center console for a weekend and it slammed down on it or cuz of the heat) and I couldn't find another anywhere so I bought this case and it was just like my old one! Best case! Fits really well and comes with the gel and hard protector and the detachable screen protector. Also the belt clip but I never use it. Great buy! Reccommend it cuz I drop my phone a lot and its still unharmed!

Hab heute das Handy (S3) nach der MTB Runde aufs Autodach gelegt und leider vergessen. Die Räder hinten rauf und losgefahren... bei 70 hat es auf einmal hinten gescheppert... Blick in den Rückspiegel.. da hat was grosses Schwarzes das Rad getroffen und knallt gerade auf die Fahrbahn, springt auf - oh gott mein handy...) nochmal auf die Fahrbahn.. nochmals auf - da de rGegenverkehr voll ins Auto rein .. es lösen sich Teile und fliegen durch die Luft und im hohen Bogen in den Acker... Bin mal stehen geblieben udn hab überlegt.. machts nen Sinn umzudrehen und die Teile zu suchen oder soll ichs gleich liegen lasssen... na ich wollt dann doch sehen ... zurück und suchen... Finde alle Teile (auch das Handy)... die äusserste Schale dürfe es bei der Kollission mit dem auto geknackt haben... die ist hinüber... die Schutfolie hat es rausgerissen die 2. Hartplastik hat sich auch gelöst.. das Gummi war noch am Handy.. das Handy funktioniert einwandfrei und KEIN Glasbruch.. ein Wunder!!! da das äussere Hardcover hin ist, hab ich mi jetzt noch so ein Teil bestellen müssen.. aber das Handy hats überlebt!! Das war die Anschaffung alle mal wert!!!
