Pillivuyt Large Butter Tray with Cover, European Style

This is going to sound nuts...because you think a butter tray, is a butter tray...however, this is not always the case.I've been searching for a butter tray to fit our butter for quite some time. Our Danish butter (LURPAK) is approx. 3 3/4"x 2 3/4"x 1 1/2" in size. And many of the butter trays simply weren't large enough.Or if they were large enough, they were just barely big enough, which would cause you to smash the butter each time you put on, or took off the lid. Or they were designed with a recess groove that the lid fit into, which would gather butter, which would then transfer to the lid, which would then transfer to the counter, and so forth.Then I finally stumbled upon this butter tray.... success!!This butter tray has it all. Its nice to look at as it sits on the counter...it's large enough to fit our butter - the lid measures approx. 5 1/2"x 3 3//4"x 1 3/4". In addition, the lid sits on the matching tray, which has a neat little bump on it that the lid fits around. The tray is actually designed in such a way that the lid naturally goes where it needs to go, when you go put it back on. A neat feature.Lastly, I regularly put this tray and cover in the dishwasher (top rack) and have had no problems.I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a high quality large butter tray and cover!

Very pretty butter dish, has a top handle, so when lift it your hands are not full of butter.I know the brand very well, no lead or cadmium as in other imported dishes. Had dishes and accessories for the table that I have used for 20 yearsand they are in pristine condition. The butter dish looks good when mixing and matching with my other dishes.A great buy that is still made in France.

American and European butter are not the same. European is better. It has been regularly available in my market since 2000, but it's sold in a form (I'd call it a butter loaf) that is twice the width of an American butter stick. 99.5% of all butter dishes available on the American market are made to fit the American stick. The Pillyut Large Butter tray accommodates the European butter loaf. Its solid, clean, neutrally white and meets my need for butter service with European butter on my table. Its not cheap but to me its worth the cost.

I was looking all over for a butter dish that would hold English/Irish Butter. Found this and it's wonderful. It looks nice on the table and is easy to clean. Very nice!

Really nice, heavy, butter tray. Very pretty. Lid fits nicely. Does the job well.

Beautiful butter dish. Wish the handle had a little more depth to it - hence four rather than five stars. Otherwise, it holds European size butter perfectly - with about an eighth of an inch to spare all around. Nice, not too heavy weight. Good grip despite it being very smooth - does not tend to slip when holding it on one of the edges. Fits perfectly in the fridge door. Made in France. Highly recommended.

Exceeded expectations! Wide enough for the fancy Irish butter my husband likes and he likes it to be room temp, so we leave it out. Also has the very handy lip so that any melty butter can't get on the lid. Couldn't imagine a nice dish!
