This is polar opposite of black iron pipe from your local hardware store.
For better or worse this is sooooooooo different than black pipe from your local hardware store. For most people doing a little side project (I got this to build a ladder for my sons loft bed) the sandblasting adds a nice finish to the product it's super clean and NOT a oily or greasy product that needs labels or cleaning. If you need to mix and match with local parts these will definitely stand out but if you get all sandblasted parts you can make something vastly different than if you just team to hardware store. The one negative I had was I decided to cut the threads deeper to aid with assembling into different size fittings and maintain a proper rectangle shape and I had to sand down the finish a bunch cut the threads. I cut my threads by hand if someone had a proper threading machine it might not be so hard. For clarity I was using 90 degree elbows for the bottom and top to connect to the sides then all the joints in the sides of the ladder were 3way "TEES". Theb every so often I used an offset 4 way that looked like a normal 3 way tee but had a 4th location in the back so I could mount the ladder to the bed but maintain a gap from the bed to the ladder for comfortable climbing. In the pictures I was experimenting with the top to see which handle style I liked. Due to ladders needing to be rigid you have to over tighten one side then loose. To start the thread on the other side. I opted to weld them after it was all mocked up but if you use the same fittings all the way down on both sides it's not necessary. I didn't want ladder mounted to the floor or the ceiling so I had one additional hurdle to climb to allow use of the 4 way offset.

Great price, great customer service, some limits on complex applications.
First, customer service is quite good; I would give Brian a 4/5 on that count, as he promptly responded to an email I had about a concern. Would give 5/5, but didn’t get a response to any follow up emails. But, he was super nice and explained why they use the pipes they do.The pipes are fine quality; they look good. Nice finish. A few caveats, though, that should be mentioned:1. If you are using them for simple applications, such as a single leg that attaches to a shelf with a flange, they work fine. Just tighten up the flanges and attach.2. However, if you are building complex shelving or artistic pieces, you may run into some problems (as I did). The threads on these pipes are WAY shorter than standard pipe threads. For this reason, if you screw a coupler, a T coupler, or an elbow onto a pipe, when it hits the “tight” spot, you CANNOT tighten any further, because you are out of threads! This is not a problem for simple applications, but if you are building a shelf with t couplers and supports that all have to point the same way, this is a MAJOR problem. If you back off to make things point correctly, the fitting is loose and wobbles.3. I had to eventually return all of this pipe for the application I was building, and went with more expensive local pipe from a Plumber’s wholesale warehouse. What I found was that the pipe I got there was (1) much heavier grade (elbows and tees felt like twice as much metal, and the flanges were a couple of cm bigger in diameter), (2) standard threading, making it very easy to adjust everything with pipe wrenches so that orientation of elbows and t-couplers were as needed.Aside from that, there are definitely pros to this pipe:Again, price is simply phenomenal (it cost me double the price to obtain the standard pipe locally). Secondly, Brian is super nice and I think trying really hard to make customers happy. Third, if you are building a very simple application where you don’t have multiple joints that all have to be oriented exactly, then this works fine, for much less expense. Finally, if it bothers you to see any threads showing, then the shorter threading on these pipes solves that problem.Just be aware of the limitations on complex applications. I will definitely order this pipe again in the future for appropriate applications.

So much better than going to home depot or lowes
Using it for furniture I found these to be of great quality and they looked great. I built an industrial style entertainment center with these has the support legs and such. will update later with pictures. Having the ability to screw each pipe in allowed another avenue to level furniture if its not on a level surface. Would certainly buy again... and will. If there was one thing I would say was a con... there was a decent amount of machine oil still on the pieces from when they cut them. nothing that a dirty rag can't clean but make sure take care of it before putting it on objects. again that was minor otherwise I thought it was an excellent purchase and the price makes it even better.

Best pipe decor I've bought yet for the price.
Very happy with these. I bought a 20pk to make a couple tables. The threads screw in well the fittings (same brand) and the spray paint (Krylon) I used one them settled with virtually no drips and the sort of bulk packs priced reasonably. My only complaint is that when righting them there is a very fine line between tight enough and loose and once loosened do not thread back the same. So be sure they're where you want them the first time.

Perfect
I have been using these to build industrial type brackets for home made shelving for my collection of video games. I needed to find a more cost effective solution than going to the big box store and spending $5 for 1 of these pipes. These perfectly fit my needs for what I was using them for at a very good price. They arrived quickly and were very clean. If you've ever used the black steel pipe from the box stores you know about the black hands you get from handling them. I gave them a quick wipe down and gave them a quick paint. Couldn't be happier. I plan on ordering more.
