Pay attention as and take your time if this is your first time..1 hr tops..
Excellant product..a tiny bit confusing if you follow instruction on UTube as certain procedures were not accurate..ie..Place new window clip on cable..but it goes on a little octagon shaped stop on cable..So al long as you are open minded..very easy to figure out..takes approx one hour to R&R...You should go slow and take your time..the next one will take 15 mins...easy peasy..and as usual..Amazon ROCKS..The ONTIME MACHINE:)

This was much more cost effective than a new window regulator. I have them installed and they are working great. Now only if the door were easier to take apart. A tip for anyone installing these on a Passat: don't install the clip on the metal bracket until after you have the clips on the track. Removing these from the metal peice is not an easy task without breaking them, they fit really tight.

Perfect fit, will save you $$$
Story time: I have a 2001 Passat that's still going strong, but it occasionally has annoying maintenance issues that come with being a 17 year old car.About two years ago, the left window had the same problem I had when I ordered this, the regulator sounded like important plastic bits self-destructed, and the window fell into the door. Two years ago, I took the car to my mechanic, because I needed it fixed and didn't have time to deal with it. Final bill? Over $500 for parts and labor - they replace the entire internal door panel.Today, my passenger window suffered the same problem. Not wanting a repeat of the $500 mechanic bill, I made a guess that these little plastic brackets were the only part that failed. I was correct. I ordered these, same day shipping, in the morning. Got home from work and pulled the door panel. Took a break for dinner and had the parts in time to install them before the end of the night.Pulling the internal door panel is a little tricky, but there are great videos online to walk you though the key steps.Anyway, thanks to this part, I saved $485+ on a trip to the mechanic, and my window was broken for less than a day.

Snug fit but work well.
Work perfectly. Slot for metal window clip was very tight and for a short while I had concerns. With the aid of a clamp and some prying I finally got the clips seated and all is well.

needed to be pursuaded...
to fit together with the metal tabs that fit into it... read that as "I used a vice grip and hammer and a lot of force!" Definitely took some mechanicing experience to make it fit together. But it absolutely won't fall apart by accident! So if you're confident in your ability to make things fit together that barely fit, then go for it. Some people talked about having to carve the plastic, or use a dremel tool to open things up for the cable things to fit into... Well, they were really tight, but I just mashed them together, and it worked. I don't remember if it took squeezing it with a vice grip or a good smack with a heavy object, but it worked (we did this several weeks ago, and today we were asked to post reviews). Another thought was maybe to warm them up if you're in a colder place. Here in Florida, at 85 degrees plus, this wasn't an issue. But if it's colder, knowing how tight the fit is, I would put it in a pot of hot water on the stove for 15 minutes or so, to make the plastic more flexible. Not so hot that you burn yourself on it, but nice and warm will definitely make plastic easier to work.

3 stars may be too generous. Only one clip will fit properly. The other needs to be customized by cutting away some plastic. Not sure if this is intended, but they don't mention this in description. I'd go to VW dealer and buy oem next time.

parts made well, filing required..
these parts are made pretty well but you will have to file the clips otherwise they will fit way to tight. Other then that i am very happy i didn't have to spend $45 for the entire mechanism for my 2004 VW Passat.

The clips are of poor quality. One clip was misshapen and immediately started to crack on installation. I now have a disassembled door and open window until I can get a replacement clip. The other clip was also poorly formed but I was able to get it to fit. I am not sure how long it will hold.
