Q: Can the standard boxes hold hanging files?

I've seen hanging files in the standard boxes, but the lid doesn't fit over them very well.

Q: Are these wrapped in plastic for shipping?

No. They come in a cardboard shipping box. Good, functional boxes & fairly easy to assemble.

Q: How many boxes can be stacked on top of each other

I guess it depends on what's in them. I used them to move books, which were pretty heavy and I was able to stack them six high. However, it just depends on what you put in them.

Q: How much weight are they rated for?

Maybe 20-25 lbs. They are very strong.
