Excellent lightweight powered USB hub
This powered hub is fantastic. I was using an un-powered one and my external drive was struggling to do simple tasks like copying files. This Sabrent hub resolved the issue, and the nice thing is that it's lightweight, too. Love the buttons and the LED lights. My husband saw it and wanted one for himself! Highly recommended!

Works, had some occasional issues setting up. But now I know how to get around them. 4/5 works, but not the best.
Here is my review of the Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub and 5V/2.5A power adapter Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual Power Switches and LEDs included 5V/2.5A power adapter (HB-UMP3) : My laptop has only 2 usb3.0 ports, and I have a plethora of devices that I have to plug in. Ethernet to usb, external hard drive, mouse, flash drives. And I really needed something to fit my needs. I found many devices that I thought would fit my needs, some looked tad nice than this one (with brushed aluminum and sleeker designs), but this was the best one I could find that had a power adapter. One main concern I had was powering my external hard drive. I didn't want it to run on low power, which can damage the drive. And having multiple devices plugged into one port doesn't supply them all with the right amount of power. So this one it is! I received the item from my residence hall's front desk (go college!). Prime 2 day shipping worked like a breeze (unlike last time...). As soon as i received the box, i turned it on its side to carry it with one hand: and I could feel the contents of the box shift and smack the bottom of the box. My heart sank. I bought this with the UTechSmart Uranus mouse (review here: ). Opening returning to my room I opened it and found that they had only but bubble wrap between the two items, and not around the two items. What idiot packed my box?!?!?! I was hoping nothing would be DOA because of shipping. The actual box for this was fairly nice. Sleek black cardboard, well wrapped parts. Came with the hub and attached usb cord and a nice long power adapter. I opened it up and plugged it in! I decided to try all my items one at a time. First the Ethernet. Plugged it in and... nothing. Tried different ports, tried turning on and off the buttons. Nothing. Unplugged the hub, replugged, and still nothing. Losing hope I unplugged everything, replugged, and it worked?! After further testing with various devices, I think I believe it is this. If you unplug without ejecting the hub, my CPU doesn't like it and has issues reconnecting the devices later. So after a small heart attack it works. Pros: power adapter (5'8") 4 USB3.0 ports buttons to turn items on and off works well with all my various devices speed seems to be doing fine as well Cons: Only comes in blue LEDs only light up the bottom half of the buttons ports are super tight, all devices have to be forced in and out USB cord is a tad short. Would have liked to see a few more inches on it Bit finicky with disconnecting and reconnecting Overall: Has lots of pros and cons. Cons are a few things that I can work around, so I am happy it works. For 16$ it’s not bad. Will edit if something comes up later. Due to the issues I've had, only 4/5 stars for the product. If I could give amazon a separate rating, it would probably be 2/5 stars. (one star up from my last shipment)

SABRENT.. never an issue
Works as advertised. SABRENT has never disappointed. You can shut off individual ports.. not sure the benefit but once I figure that out I may use it.

I have Wifi on my 40 feet of USB cable again!
My wifi travels from the house's router, to a second mesh router, across the yard (about 50-75 feet) to my wifi dongle, through one 20ft USB cable, into this powered USB hub, through a second 20ft USB cable, and into my bedroom laptop in my auxiliary building. It works! It's alive!! For MONTHS now I've been throwing money at this problem where I could get internet in the living room, but not the bedroom, which worked before, then stopped working at the same time I bought my new laptop. Which of course made me wonder if it had to do with my new laptop. But the PROBLEM all along was that my wifi extender and the router at the house were both old and sending such a weak signal that it couldn't travel down the second USB cable, even with the powered USB hub, so when I first bought this item I was annoyed because I thought I'd spent more money that didn't fix my problem. (I had already bought a second USB cable, thinking it was the cable, and a new wifi dongle, thinking it was the dongle.) But then our internet company installed a new router, and a second router to create a mesh network, and the signal is finally strong enough to travel down the second USB cable again. I guess I should have worked from the front end of the problem back, rather than back to front. DUH! lol... Anyway this handy little powered USB hub makes sure the signal stays strong, it's like a little accelerator for my wifi signal! My only possible complaint is that the part that plugs into the device from the house power seems to stop and not go fully in, but it obviously IS fully in because the unit has power. So it may just be my expectation that came up short. If you've had an internet problem like I have, this powered USB hub may help you. If it doesn't, consider that your router or wifi extender may be sending a signal too weak to travel across your wires, even with the powered USB hub. Strong equipment won't help if the signal is weak to begin with.

Works well but Issues with Raspberry Pi
Works well and the disconnect buttons are very handy, hower there is an issue in that it backfeeds power to the host connection. That may work well with most PCs, however on a Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 this voltage interferes with the power controller on the Raspberry Pi and prevents it from booting. You must either disconnect the hub from the Raspberry Pi until it starts booting or remove the power from the hub until the Pi starts booting. Neither is a good solution for unattended operations. The solution is to interrupt the +5V power line while leaving the ground (P-) and the two data lines (D+ and D-) intact. Unfortunately you can't open the case or the plug on the hub to cut the P+ line or insert an isolation diode so the easy fix it to use an inexpensive M/F USB power blocker. With that inline the Raspberry Pi boots reliably every time. This device will work fine as an unpowered hub but in that case you would not use the power blocker. Update: still having issues with the Raspberry Pi 4 booting reliability even with the power blocker installed so voltage must also be feeding back on the host data lines. Had to isolate this hub from the Raspberry Pi with another non-powered hub to get it to boot reliably. Taking off a star for that.

An 5.

Excellent value for money
Given the price this is a excellent piece of USB-hub. I have it as a hub for a Raspberry PI4 which is running Zwave dongle and it works as planned. I also have other devices connected to it.
