That said, I'm going to state what is probably going to be an unpopular opinion among fans: she often throws in big words that aren't necessary. Let me explain: sometimes, when there are three or four perfectly acceptable descriptors, she will choose a fifth that is so esoteric than even an English teacher has to pick up a dictionary. Writing "peregrinations", for instance, when ruminations, maunderings or even simple ponderings would have done quite well and satisfied an educated reader. There are times when I just say to myself (in a Scottish brogue, of course), "Keerist, woman. Put down the thesaurus, already, and come back to bed. I'm well and fully nackered."
