A history of interpretations of Stonehenge
Be careful buying this book. I don't say that because there's anything wrong with it. Not at all. It's well written and well illustrated and the author is knowledgeable about his topic. But his topic is pretty obscure. Specifically, his topic is not "what we know about Stonehenge." That subject is discussed in the book, but not in much detail. The book is really about how people have perceived and understood Stonehenge through the ages. It includes medieval legends about Stonehenge, Stonehenge in literature, Stonehenge as a Victorian tourist attraction, and astrological theories about Stonehenge. There's nothing wrong with a book about historical perceptions of Stonehenge. In fact, I don't doubt that some readers will find the topic fascinating. But if you want to know what modern science has to say about Stonehenge, this is not the book for you.

Stonehenge Complete
It arrived in great shape. It appears to be quite extensive in its research. It has some awesome photos and I have just started reading it. I have no doubt it will meet and exceed my expectations on learning what I can about Stonehenge.

Very nice coffee table book or even a guide for construction.
We all get a weird idea sometime. Once I had it in my head to build a new Stonehenge out of concrete. It was a silly idea but at that time I needed a good guide with many photos and descriptions. I came across this book several years ago. It has been a wonderful book to even just peruse through. There is a concise history of the site, going back to woodhenge and even before. The author discusses the difficulty in the transportation of the massive saracen stones. Even if you have a mild interest in this subject I cannot think of a better book to have than this one. It is a true gem.Thank you for reading my review.

Great Book
I got this book as a gift for my wife, because we will be visiting Stonehenge this summer. She is very happy with it. I think the main thing to know about this book is that you should only get this if you really want to learn something about Stonehenge. If you were to take a college course just on Stonehenge, this would probably be the textbook. Which is not meant to scare people off. It is fascinating and packed with illustrations.

Stonehenge is not a stonehedge
"If you only buy one Stonehenge book, this is the only one you'll ever need..." plus, it's funny... good ol' dry Brit Wit!

An Excellent Source
Doing reserach on Stonehenge. An excellent source. Author uses primary sources as well. I recommend highly.

Not enough about modern discoveries.
It might be complete, but there is far too much (in fact, the majority of the book) detail on the history of speculation, fantasy and bunkum about Stonehenge, and far too little information on up-to-date facts and discoveries. It is more a "history-of-study" of Stonehenge than detailing what is now known or can be reasonably deduced from modern discoveries.
