I live in a rural cattle ranching area in Texas, and we have annoying swarms of flies every spring & summer. I bought a couple of these traps last summer, and that was the best money I've spent in many years. These traps work better than great! Much, much better than fly-paper strips or anything else I have tried.You do need to put the trap out in direct sunlight on a few warm days to "activate" the bait solution. (I hung mine in the shade on our porch initially, and that was a mistake.) After 2-3 days in the sun, the bait solution will stink to high heaven, and the flies will swarm to it. People will want to stay far away from them, to avoid the smell. Once the bait is activated, you can move them to partial sun locations, if needed, but they work best in full sunlight.If you have raccoons in your area, you will either need to hang them in an inaccessible location, or put them away at night. The bait draws raccoons as well as it does flies. Another lesson learned.I just put mine out a week ago (mid-March) when the flies started to appear, and they are 2/3 full of dead flies now, just a week later. Sometime in the next week, I will empty them out and refill them with fresh bait solution.Highly recommended!

Best try trap ever but holy crap it stinks so bad it will literally make you puke.

These work amazingly well. Within a week or two the container was full of flys. However, downsides are: the smell is horrible and you can’t be anywhere near it, it attracts flys. Many more will come to your yard then would have without it.

Really catches the flies!Put it where you are not going to smell it cause it stinks but flies like it.

Wow! This stuff is amazing and works 100% at catching flies! I have a cat colony and have bought everything you can think of to keep flies away from their food. This product has been the only thing that has worked. I still have some flies in my cat food but I’m sure after setting out more of these the problem will be solved. I bought a set of 2 just to see how it worked first before buying more. I already bought more to go around the outside of the house where I have feeding trays set up for my colony. It’s very easy to set up and within less than 48 hrs I’m now replacing the bait to start over again because my jar is almost full. If you have a fly problem this will help solve it! Since the flies are so attracted to the cat food I did rub some juice from a can of wet cat food inside the container all around the top about 2 inches down from the lid. That was a huge help with attracting them to the bait but it still works without doing that but not as fast. For me it just increased the number of flies wanting to get inside. The smell is strong once it’s set out for several hours but I only notice the smell when I go to stir the bait and add water as more flies go into the container. We have one sitting on our table on the back porch and cannot smell it unless I stir it up. Anyway...this bait works great!!Update: 5-30-20. I’ve already ordered and received 4 more of the fly bait containers and all 4 fill up within 2 days. I’ve already went through all the fly bait!

Mixed feelings… the product is great, however after about 1 week of it being outside, it started to smell like some animal carcasses, just awful!

I think I got a defective one or something, because it doesn’t smell at all. Not that I’m complaining but it also doesn’t seem to attract that many flies, so I’m guessing the smell is necessary. It came in a two pack so maybe one is just defective. I’ll update my post if it’s bunk as well.Also, the support website linked on Amazon doesn’t work, goes to a page and website that doesn’t exist.UPDATE:I opened both packages. There is no smell at all and they are not attracting flies as advertised. Changing review to 1 star :(
