Miles
Miles is my favorite Spiderman right now. My youngest grand son likes Miles and he has good taste. This book was great, the monster was really ugly but he was after Spiderman as usual. I love the way the police are always wanting to arrest Miles for helping them. Love the books. Way to go Brian Bendis!

The most shocking volume so far!
I’ve read some Ultimate Venom stuff before in Ultimate Peter’s Spider-Man books, but this one seemed a little different. There were lots of shocking moments in this volume, so before I spoil everything, I’ll just say this. If you’ve been reading the Miles version of Ultimate Spider-Man so far, this is volume is a must-read. The ramifications of this book are going to guide Miles down a new path for the remainder of his life. There were gasp-out-loud moments in this book, and the ending truly made me feel emotional. With that opening out of the way, here is my spoiler-filled thoughts:Betty Brandt is a different type of character is the Ultimate Universe. She is more of a hard-hitting reporter with definite detective skills. She finds the spider that bit Miles by investigating the Prowler/Spider-Man connection. She gets close to figuring out Spider-Man’s identity, but assumes it is Miles’ dad instead. This information is shared with Dr. Marcus, a man we saw in the opening scene of the first volume of Miles’ story. He previously worked for Oscorp, and helped create the spider that bit Miles. We would later find out that he is also the new Venom, which makes Betty’s shocking death make sense. She revealed to him who she thought it was, so he killed her to suppress the secret.Quick side note, there’s been an unnamed girl with a pink streak in her hair crushing on Miles from afar in the last two volumes. They’ve been just small appearances, but I’m sure there will be more later.Venom goes to Miles’ dad, Jefferson, now assuming him to be Spider-Man. After a brief encounter, the real Spider-Man shows up and attacks Venom. Miles’ venom blast stops Venom, but Jefferson needs to be taken to the hospital. It is there that a major battle happens. But before that, Maria Hill shows up at Miles’ home. Ganke, MJ, and Gwen are all with him, so Maria become even more suspicious when the old Spider-Man’s friends are hanging out with Miles. She has this thing figured out, but Miles won’t admit it…until it becomes necessary later.Miles heads to the hospital, hearing that Venom is on a rampage again. He goes toe-to-toe with Venom, but Miles is no match. In Venom’s clutches, with his Spider-Man costume in disarray, Miles is caught partially unmasked in front of his mom. Moments later, police open fire on Venom, and Miles’ mom is caught in the crossfire. With her dying words she tells Miles, “Don’t ever let him know. Don’t ever let your father…” And she dies in his arms. This moment was so sad for me. Miles is trying to do something good by being a hero, but his actions directly led to his father being injured and his mother being killed. By the end of the volume it appears that we are heading towards an Ultimate re-telling of the classic “Spider-Man No More” storyline.I read this volume right after reading volumes 1, 2 and 3, and it was a good experience to read the whole story (so far) straight through.

Purely ultimate!
This book is just amazing! The character interaction in this book is probably my favorite thing about it! The art is top notch also! If you haven't read any other volumes this is actually new reader friendly. It is better if you read the past 3 volumes it will make this volume way better. If you read the other volumes it will allow you to see the characters grow and make it even more emotional! Worth every penny.

Awh man....
Venom definitely lived up to his reputation in this one. It took a much darker turn than I expected. That being said, can't wait to start the next one

a case of mistaken identity
This is my favorite current superhero book by my favorite current superhero writer (a deserved nod to Kirkman's "Invincible" though). Bendis has written every issue of Ultimate Spiderman -- apparently, it is the longest continuous run by a writer on a Marvel/DC comic ever. With the overwrought "United We Stand" arc (that bogged down all three Ultimate books) behind us, we return to find Miles in NY. Betty Brant, a part-time reporter at the Bugle, has decided that Miles' father Jefferson is the new Spiderman. Her idea leaks out, and Venom shows up at Miles' apartment. As usual, the dialogue is great. The art is nice, despite being made on a computer. Jonah Jameson makes a welcome appearance; Mary Jane Watson & Gwen Stacy's cameos are a little forced, but I can understand why Bendis brought them into the storyline. Miles' best friend, Ganke, is becoming a great character/friend/sidekick in a more believable, funnier and less annoying way than Rick Jones ever was.

Epic at the start, tragic at the end!
This comics really changes things for Miles Morales and really sets prospective on his life from my point of view. Looking back in the previous volumes, he had both his mom and dad alive and was selected to got to an exclusive charter school out of thousands and it seems like Miles had a good a life and was on to a bright future. Until that spider-bite him and it not only gave him powers, but it also lead him to discover secrets about his dad and his uncle, but this volume is where things get tragic at the end and it is heart-breaking and really sad and unexpecting. I highly recommend this!!

Conflicted feelings
On the one hand I hate Peter's Death but on the other i enjoy the continuation of the ultimate Spider-Man Universe and it's older characters combined with the new. Regardless of my feelings towards events in this universe, this comics Story and execution of The story make for an interesting read. The Art Work through out is fantastic and Miles is very likeable even though he's no Peter Parker.
