They are water proof which was a bonus that I wasn't looking for but have used. I have skinny ankles so they are a little loose in that area, The reason they don't get 5 stars is they do not last very long. I go through a pair in about 6-8 months. I ware them about 16 hours a day in a fabrication shop, we build off-road Jeeps and such.
