Renzetti Traveler 2200 Series Fly Tying Vise with Base

I have been tying on a Regal vise for 30 years and love it. I bought this vise for the rotary feature, but to tell you the truth, I don't use the rotary feature much. It's kind of a pain to use. But the jaws are very pointy and great for midges. It's a nice vise and Renzetti was the company that invented the rotary vise so that's the one to buy.

I have been thinking about getting a new vise for some time now. I am glad I did, and I’m very glad I decided to get this Renzetti. After taking with some fellow crappie jig tier’s, I was convinced to give this vise a try, after all it was money back if I wasn’t satisfied. Well, they will be keeping their money. The vise is solid for being a travel vise, I am in the Emergancy medical field and I work a lot of hours and different places a lot, so it was in my best interest to buy a travel vise, as I can tie at work when not busy. 5 huge stars for this vise, if anyone is in the market for a new GOOD vise, give this one a shot, it’s a dandy! I was a little concerned about the weight of the Traveler after reading a prior review, but I don't find it to be too light at all. Very good vice. There are a number of adjustments that you tinker with, but once set they all work great.

vise is perfect for tyer who does not have a permanent fly tying station. vise is portable and easy to assemble, ,appears to be well made as advertised. I immediately discarded my beginner clamp on vise. With all the available accessories i won’t need another vise.

there are 2 things I dislike about this vise: First, is that the base is too light, yes I know it's a travel vise but the option for a different or heavier base should be added. secondly, the knobs seem to loosen up too easily, each time I am tying a fly the spinning handle comes loose. I have adjusted it a hundred times to get the tension just right, but it just doesn't stay where I set it. I have really cranked down on these knurled knobs to no avail. it may be the nylon washers are just too slick. other than these it is an excellent vise, the jaws hold any size fly you want and it will not move once set. I mostly tie largemouth bass flies so I am a bit heavier than others and the vise can handle it no problem.

I had used my old vise for about 15 years and the jaws were not holding well, and no replacements available. After some research I decided on the Traveler 2200 Cam Series. Very good quality, holds hooks well, and is easy to break down for travel. Very happy.

This was my forth vise and the best one I ever had.
