Works well...
We needed a heater to boost up the warmth in our sitting room on cold evenings. After some research this seemed like a good model and it has proved to work well. It heats up quickly and regulates itself efficiently. There was little to no noticeable smell when first heating from new.The programmer took a little while to figure out - some settings require multiple presses of the control button to get to the correct option. There is a facility to set recurring timed periods through the day. I would have preferred a duration timer, ie, set it to run for 3 or 4 hours after startup and then automatically switch off, but I can't see an option for that. As it is one has to remember to switch off manually if not using the programmer - not a big deal but one would have thought it a simple option to add such a timer option (if anyone has found that option is actually there I'd be keen to know how it is set!).That said, we run it on the eco setting which automatically regulates the temperature to achieve whatever maximum you set on the dial and shows which of the 3 power settings it is using at any given moment. This works well and helps conserve energy. It makes a noticeable difference to our 5m x 4m room with max temp set at 23. Of course it can go higher than this but 23 is comfortable for us.Some people have complained of annoying clicking sounds. I've only noticed some clicking of the casing cooling down after the unit is switched off. It doesn't last long. The casing seems solid and well designed - it's a clean and contemporary design and build quality is good. The lead is on the short side but it is perfectly possible to use an extension lead (the manufacturers advise against it but that's almost certainly a hedge against liability) - just make sure it is a heavy duty one rated to handle higher currents and don't coil it up while the heater is running. We have had no issues with ours and the cable doesn't get warm.

Fantastic heater
I bought after much research and it really does not disapoint, build quality is superb and it is really good at what it does for 3.5 hours on and over a degree and a half rise in temp in a rather big space costing just £1.72 as of march 25 electric prices i think that is outstanding i bought as i live in a dorma semi from the 60's and for some reason they never put a radiator in the living room and as of which i just needed a added heat source that was cost effective and also works well for my needs after alot of trail and error i feel this is the ticket a 10 year warranty is nothing to laugh at also and show delongi stand by its products to last, i got in a sale at £125 but it is worth full price and do recommend to anyone look for something like i was to help warm up a large space that central heating just doesnt quite cut it

Excellent heater
This is a brilliant convection heater and really wants the room up quickly and is much more cost-effective than using central heating. I find this one provides a much nicer/less drying heat, probably because it is away from the wall so it heats the room up quicker and requires less time to get a comfortable heat than the radiators.Lots of people seem to be complaining about the high pitch noise/alarm sound that you get when you press the power button. But that is configurable- you can switch off easily-When the unit is on but in standby mode, press and hold the knob for about five seconds, the screen will show some dashes, press the clock button and then turn the knob to turn the sound off (red circle with sdoff text). There is a short video on YouTube which explains all the features very well if you just search for DeLonghi Dragon 4, it comes up as the first result in the UK.The only slight negative point I would make It is that it would be better if the cable was on the other end ( not the display end). You're obviously going to have the display end facing towards you/closer to you, so that means that 50 cm or so of the cable is wasted and it gets in the way more if you move it. I might end up taping the cable up underneath and extending although this will depend on how I get on with it for a while. This probably only impacts you if you plan on moving the heater around the room much which I suppose most people won't.
