Magic Monsieur Charles Razor for Adult

Im a student at a barbering college and do straight razor shaves DAILY. Im a huge fan of the old school, fixed blade razors and was pretty disappointed when they told me I couldnt use one do to sanitation purposes. I have searched high and low looking for a changeable blade razor that has the weight and quality of most fixed blade razors to no avail...until I borrowed one of these from a fellow student. AMAZING!The 3 other changeable blade razors I own are insanely to light and don't feel like a REAL implement. The Personna Monsieur doesnt have that issue. Its not heavy by any means but feels like a real tool in your hands. Nothing about this razor feels or looks cheap like the $7 ones you can buy at Sallys or another beauty supply store.To change the blade all you need to do is slide the holder out with your thumb, drop in a new razor and slide it back...thats it. No messing with latches and clamps that make you feel like your going to slice your finger trying to shut or open the blade covers. At first I was actually worried that it was so easy that it wasnt going to be secure enough, not the case at all. The blade holds VERY well and I have full confidence it will stay in place during the entire shave.When I ordered the razor on 8/29/11 it said "Processing takes an additional 2 to 3 days" Today is the 31st and I have it in hand! Thats insanely fast for free shipping! Not only was there not a 2 to 3 day processing time but I RECIEVED the razor in 2 days!The razor is a quality changeable blade razor that I will use for the rest of my career and the shipping time was amazing. Love the razor and the seller. Personna and the seller, HairProducts have a new customer for life.

First off, this razor has some heft to it. Whoever said its light is very mistaken. The width of the blade is about the same as your standard 5/8" straight razor. The metal part of Monsieur Charles is shiny, heavy steel. Holding a standard straight razor in one hand and the Monsieur in the other, overall weight feels very close. I'd say my Dovo only felt SLIGHTLY heavier because of its wood handle.-Made in China, but seems of decent quality.-Hinge is fairly tight and solid.-The razor does NOT come with even a single blade, no does it state that it will. So make sure you have some on hand if you're planning a shave right away.-Overall, this razor is better for sideburns, neck lines, around the ear outlines and general shaping of a haircut but can be used to shave your face. The blade is just obviously smaller.-$23 was a good price. Way cheaper than the Dovo Shavette and a little cooler looking too.

I was disappointed in the razor. It actually seems to be a good product, but just not for the purpose I wanted. I bought the razor because it uses mini blades. I wanted the short blade because I use it to trim my beard. To do so much of the work is done with the heel of the blade so short it good. This razor extends the short blade with a non- functioning continuation made to look like a straight razor. Completely eliminates my purpose of the short blade.

I had been using a small "shavette" for trimming my goatee, but found the lack of weight and the small form factor made it difficult to handle. I found this razor while looking around on line. It has nice weight and the size of a full size "real" straight razor. It uses Personna "injector blades". The description of the razor doesn't tell how the blades get installed. One side of the razor has a little door that slides forward to reveal a small plate perfectly designed to take the injector blade (tiny posts to hold it in place and all) and it slides back..... if you shake the razor to get water off of it like a traditional straight razor- this door WILL open. The scales (handle sides) were a bit tight, but it handled well, and shaved well. All in all, a good value for the money. One problem is the blades- being that the razor does NOT come with any blades, I ordered a pack the same day I ordered the razor- I'm still waiting for the blades to arrive. I found a local barbershop supply that had the blades so I can use the razor. I wish the blades were longer- the shaving section is 1/2 the visible blade. If they made a version with a longer blade- it would be perfect.

We have used these in my barber family for centuries. The best straight razor you can buy. Not too heavy or light. Perfect!
