RootsMagic 7 Family Tree Genealogy Software / Book Bundle

I have used Family Tree Maker since it's original development. Recently Ancestry chose to stop supporting the program, much to the dismay of many of its users. Roots Magic 7 has agreed to take it over and support it in the future. I bought Roots Magic 7 and was very pleased with how easy it works and how its operation meshes so well with other genealogical programs. The only problem at present is that it can only download or import Family Tree Maker 7-14 as a GedCom which is not a problem if you are going from program to program. I lost my program in a house fire and had to work from what I had put on Ancestry's on-line tree. I could not find a way to download the tree. Now this may just be my ignorance as the ability to download was once available. However, Roots Magic 7 and Ancestry are working this year to fix this connection issue and once it is done, this will be very easy. Roots Magic will download from Family Tree Maker 2006 and earlier, PAF (Personal Ancestry File), Root Magic 1-3, Legacy, Family Origins, The Master Genealogist, and GedComs. Roots Magic 7 also provides an easy to understand and follow, guide to how to use the program and information on researching your family tree, producing a book with photos and information discovered. It covers everything you need to know if you are a beginner researcher and even experienced researchers can benefit from the information contained.

Excellent product. I have used other genealogy software and this is the best one, thus far. I purchased the RootsMagic 7 bundle package from Amazon at a great price. The tutorial book is very easy to follow and the software is user friendly. I received the product yesterday, which I didn't know that USPS delivers on Sundays. I stared using RootsMagic 7 immediately to see if it's as user friendly as advertised. Not only is the product user friendly, it has allowed me to start retrieving my records, documents, photos, stories, etc., from my personal files, Ancestry, FamilySearch, Fold3 and many more sites, to use everything in one platform. After 15 years of researching my genealogy and gathering almost 300 years of my ancestral history, RootsMagic 7 will allow me to write and self publish my own book, videos and more. This will save me tons of monies. Love the product!

If your doing genealogy researching on the "cloud" network such as Ancestry.com and want to preserve your own copy of all the hard work you've been doing and want to save it on your own storage media at home, this is the software you need. I tried a few other popular genealogy softwares and I like RootsMagic the best. The main reason why I feel it's the best, is that when you sync you Ancestry.com tree to your RootsMagic program, all of the media you've collected will be saved also. By "media" I mean, photos, and documents will be saved also.

I have been using this software for several years and it is great. It is very flexible and allows me to accomplish everything that I need to. the interface isn't all pretty and fancy like some other programs but it is not ugly either. I'm very happy with it.. It has never crashed. I even bought a copy for my girlfriend to build her family tree.

I LOVE RootsMagic 7. Instead of just utilizing my family tree on Ancestry.com or Family Search (both internet genealogy titans); this product assures me that I'm protecting my hundreds of hours of research work into quality personal data software. Of course there's a learning curve. You Tube videos regarding Root Magic7 are are also helpful.

I had to upgrade my old PAF to a new genealogy software. On PAF, each person had a RIN# (to identify a person) AND a MRIN# (to identify a Marriage). "Roots Magic" doesn't assign marriage numbers so PAF was easier to use for me -- but without support anymore from the Mormon Church, I had to change software.So far - I am enjoying my new Roots Magic and would buy it again. Moving my PAF info to Roots Magic was easy. I think it only took me 10 minutes to install Roots Magic and move my PAF info into it and I was ready to go!

Installed (on Windows 10) easily. I found it easy to use in stand-alone mode. Then when I went to Ancestry and downloaded my tree GEDCOM. Imported the GEDCOM into RootsMagic with no problems. Then I was able to make a change online at Ancestry and have RootsMagic recognize the change and ask whether I wanted the change made on my laptop.

it's okay. hard to get around and add people. could be put together better.you really need to read the book that comes with it and then watch the youtube just to get the hang of it.
