Compact, cuts well, little bit awkward
For the standalone clippers, not any of the knife models with combined clippers.Aside from the compactness, I really like these clippers for one reason in particular, but some may not appreciate it as I do. There are some ergonomic challenges I will discuss.I bought these specifically for an emergency kit, just for the tiny amount of space they save over traditional clippers. The size difference really is minuscule, but still enough for me to invest. After using them a bit though, I think they might become my standard type of clippers. The cutting jaws are actually quite shallow, and they're also at more of a vertical angle than you usually see on trimmers. If you tend to grow your nails out pretty long before cutting them, then you may need to do multiple passes to fully cut them down. For me though, this is perfect because I usually overtrim my nails. The shallow depth and the basically 90° angle of the jaws makes it actually quite a challenge for me to overtrim, but isn't such a significant difference that I find them inefficient at cutting down my nails. I don't find myself taking two passes like I'd mentioned before, because I don't grow out my nails. So that's the reason I like these so much, but there are problems.I will say, they are just slightly awkward to hold, and I haven't decided what grip works best for me yet. Sometimes I hold them right-side up with my thumb on the cutting lever, index finger tucked under the body, and the rest of my fingers wrapped around the nail file while it's pointed straight out. Alternatively, sometimes I hold them upside down, thumb over the big Victorinox logo on the bottom, index and middle finger over the cutting lever, and with the file at roughly a 45° angle with my remaining fingers wrapped around it almost like an awkward pistol grip. The file is rivited into the body, but it swivels loosely, so it's difficult to find the best way of positioning it to fit your ergonomic tastes.Closing it is also slightly awkward, but less so. You need to lower the cutting lever until the spring bar is fully compressed, and then the actual cutting lever begins to bend downward; only then should you close the file on top of it. Failure to do this will cause you to scrape the file against the flathead tip of the cutting lever, and over time I imagine this will compromise the effectiveness of the file and aesthetically harm the cutting arm by scratching it up. It really isn't too difficult to close, just know that there is a proper procedure in closing it.The file itself seems fine; big enough surface area and sufficiently abbrasive as really any file would be.The flathead screwdriver on the end of the file, is slightly rounded, so it won't cut into your hand at all. I have yet to use this as a screwdriver, but I doubt rounding the edges will have any major impact on its effectiveness. What will have an impact is that there's really no great way to hold these for use of the screwdriver, which is why I haven't used it that way. The addition is appreciated for emergency use since it doesn't really harm the functionality of the clippers and slightly cuts down weight, but it's not something I expect I'll ever use.The whole thing is rivited and pressed together, so if for some reason you wanted to field-strip your nail clippers, there's really no good way of doing that. They're more mechanically sophisticated than most nail clippers (naturally, being Swiss) but I don't see any concerning failure points that would warrant any future maintenance. They include a little plastic (vinyl?) Pouch to keep it from scraping or getting scraped by your other belongings. The outside feels similar to the material that some bank-provided checkbooks are made of, nothing fancy but sufficient. The inside lining is a different soft plastic that I don't recognize; feels slightly higher end than the outside, with an almost fabric-like texture that I may have seen in some cheap pen or eyeglass pouches.I have yet to use the little keyring loop. It's small, but seems sturdy enough to handle the force of your clippers swinging around. I'd recommend leaving your clippers inside the pouch if you intend to hang it from your keys, because they're under spring tension when closed and can unexpectedly pop open if you're not careful.I don't think this is for everyone. It really does fit nicely in a survival tin or what have you. It does cut nicely, or at least in a way that I like. The file's perfectly good, but not an unusual feature, and it really gets in the way most of the time. The screwdriver is a nice thought, not very useful in my opinion, but it seems on-brand for Victorinox to fit little things in that will almost never be useful except for that one time where it actually is useful.

Cool, small clippers - but STRONG!!
So today I was cutting my toe nails - with other clippers, not these. Sadly I had let them grow so long that apparently the nails on my big toes had a hardness similar to that of titanium. First I cut part of a nail off. Then I had to press like 3 times to try and cut off the rest of the nail, and finally, WHAM!!! No, the nail did not cut - the clippers broke!! The metal part just sheared right off near the base - totally useless.I became panicked. Was I destined to spend the day with a partially cut nail?? NO. Enter the Victorinox clippers, which, like a Boy Scout, I had so wisely had stored away as a backup for just such an occasion. But I thought, how could these TINY little Victorinox clippers take on the hardened nail of my big toe??? It did not seem possible. But - much to my surprise - the Victorinox clippers went through that nail like it was butter!!! (which it most assuredly was NOT!) I mean, I did not even have to press hard or use much force at all. It must have to do with the leverage produced by this cool little tool.So the bottom line, I was able to finish cutting my nails - and I'm no longer the bane of my household. (well, I might still be - but not because I have half-cut toe nails!) These Victorinox clippers ROCK!!!! I like them so much, I ordered two more just now, in case I lose the only one I have! They are inexpensive, small and lightweight, STRONG, and do a magnificent job for the task at-hand. I wish all tools were this awesome!!! If you need a good set of nail clippers, buy these TODAY!! You will thank yourself later!

Great pocket clippers
I'm a long time Victorinox user. My sons and daughters all learned how to use a knife on one and received one as their first pocketknife for scouts and our family backpacking and camping trips. I have eyed these clippers for a while now because I tend to be picky about my trimmers and my favorites keep getting borrowed. Well, I finally bit and decided to try them.I was happy to see that the finish on these was what I have come to expect from Victorinox. There are no sharp edges or corners to catch in a pocket, and the jaws are closed in storage so they won't catch other things you might be carrying like regular clippers have done in the past.I like the quality of the cut I get from these, there is not the raised burr that I get from most other clippers and they are smooth and strong. The file works well, it is not too coarse, but leaves a good finished edge quickly. The design is very different from styles I have used before, so I am learning the best way to use them. For example, regular trimmers are concave at the front of the blades where they are ground and these are not. That means I have to adjust my thinking on where I cut, so I don't get too close to the quick of my finger. These also have less,of a curve to the blades, again, it just means a mental adjustment on how to use them.I already like these very much, and as I use them more and get used to them I'm sure I will continue to be glad I got them.

Good
I recently purchased this item, and overall, I’m quite satisfied with it. The quality meets expectations, and it performs as described. It arrived on time and was well-packaged. While there might be minor areas for improvement, it serves its purpose well and offers good value for the price. I would recommend it to others looking for something similar.
