Nicer Than I Thought
The knife (7 inch Santoku) looks good out of the box. The artisanal-looking cosmetic elements (like the fake hamon) will appeal to some, while looking a bit cheesy to others. It arrived sharper than I expected. Under a minute of light stropping brought the edge to almost scary sharpness. The Chinese steel variants is similar to some 440C variants, and should work well for kitchen use. If you know how to care for it, the edge should remain super sharp for a long time with minimal effort. I won't, for example, be using his knife to chop against hard bone. I'd expect it to chip. For slicing and lightly chopping meat and veggies this knife has potential. I know how to care for and use many kinds of knives, and I expect this one to perform well for several years. I like the octagonal handle (regardless of what it is really made of). It indexes well, and fits my hand perfectly. It's a little heavy, but that doesn't matter to me because I only prepare meals for myself, so fatigue won't be a factor. The slightly convex blade is not best for super-super thin slicing -- get a real sushi knife for that. At this price point, this knife seems well worth it.

Sharp, Doesnt Rust, Amazing.
Contrary to other reviews, this will not rust if you take proper care of it. Basically, just hand wash it and dry it immediately, not that hard. All right, for the review; Amazingly sharp, and stays sharp. After about a month of daily use, I only needed to hone the steel once, (Hone not sharpen) the craftsmanship is also amazing. Amazing all around and would make a good gift.

Best brand/style of knifevi have ever owned.
Got these on sale after watching them for weeks. These were recommended to me by a chef friend as the most affordable chef quality knives available, in his opinion. These are very nice, and they also look amazing. Love 'em.

Great knife
Had this knife for a few months now and it’s worth the money. Extremely sharp and well balanced. Use it almost every day and I couldn’t say more about it.

Rusty
This knife was amazingly sharp and cuts like a champ. Only problem is that it instantly started to rust after the first clean. The black oxidize and rough top half of the blade had numerous rusty areas come through. Even tried treating the metal with special cleaners and oils to preserve the metal. Rust particles come off with a wipe of a paper towel, so no doubt that rust would make it to my chopped food, if I still used it.

Good for the price
Been using it for about 3 years now. It hasn't kept its sharpness, even tough I sharpen it every once in a while. It's really comfortable and easy to use. Go for it if you are looking for something cheap. But if you're like me and you want a long lasting high quality knife , you'll soon be dissapointed

Amazing grind/shape
Picked up the Santoku and Nakiri a few weeks ago and I've been using them quite a bit since. These blades are REALLY well made for the price. I'm not a pro chef in a kitchen but rather a passionate home cook. These knifes retain their edge VERY well thanks to the hardened steel they use. Sure it's not your standard HCS, but it's nice to know that a bit of acidity isn't going to destroy the finish in mere minutes. they came extremely sharp right out of the box, I didn't need to sharpen or strop them at all. Aesthetically, these are beautiful in my opinion. I will be buying another knife from this series in the future!
