Great product. For the little bit of extra cost you will get a product that will last a lifetime. This will be the last shut off you'll ever have to buy if you care for it properly, making it an overall great value. Good design on shutoff lever. Can be operated with just a thumb while operating hose. Easy to use. Bought another one for our backyard hose so I don't have to keep putting it on a taking off different hoses. Just spend the few extra bucks and buy it. You won't be sorry

After years of replacing pistol-style nozzles after a few years (no matter how expensive), I've gone back to the classic brass twist-style. It's been great, but it's always a bother to twist so much every time I want to turn it on or off. Before starting a painting job that required washing siding two stories up, I looked for a better solution. This thing is perfect... the only flaw I can think of might be the weight, but some (including me) might see that as a positive. The operation is buttery smooth with no drips, the elevated lever is large and easy to operate even with gloves – it doubles as a hook very nicely, which is a huge plus when working on a ladder. I wasn't sure about spending this much, but now that I have one in hand I will be buying more. Just wish they were made in the USA (they might be, but I don't see any indication of where they're manufactured).

I bought one of these ball valves in 2016 so I could have a shut-off at the end of the hose for quickly changing attachments with a quick disconnect. Perfect setup for my needs. All brass and stainless on all components (don't ever buy aluminum for plumbing, it WILL corrode and you WILL be sorry because you'll be replacing it multiple times over the same lifespan as a brass equivalent). Internal seals are excellent, presumably teflon. Machining on the brass is also good. Ball itself is stainless and seats well against the teflon seals. Serviceability of the unit (seals/o-rings) is good with one exception. The one design flaw in this valve is that the stem from the ball through the housing to the outer lever is brass. Why is that a flaw? Because brass is soft. Yes, it's resilient to corrosion, but so is stainless steel. The ball is stainless, and so is the nylon locknut. But why Underhill made the stem also out of brass is beyond me. It should be stainless steel so that the threads don't strip. This is important because there's a lot of torque that is applied by the lever through the stem to the ball. This results in eventual wear of the threads until the point of failure. See attached photos. Hope Underhill's engineering team sees this and switches from brass to stainless. I'm sure the materials and machining cost will be minimal, and will result in a far more durable product.

It's heavy, it's expensive, but - even though it's designed as an inline valve for your garden hose - it can take the place of most standard spray nozzles and puts out much more volume. I had a Dramm 12353 Heavy-Duty Brass Shut-Off Valve for years and liked it a lot - it worked well as a high-flow nozzle that, when partly shut off, sends out a softer spray - but the lever was getting stiff so I wanted to replace it; I needed more than one so I ordered both the Dramm and this Underhill CV075H Super Heavy Duty Brass Shut Off Valve 3/4-Inch Hose Thread . I'm keeping the Underhill and getting another, in part because the Dramm I received was misaligned, but mostly because the Underhill has a slightly larger bore (Dramm is exactly 1/2", Underhill is about 1mm more) and the fit-and-finish are superior. The Underhill is also more expensive; if you want to get your watering done quickly, either the Dramm or the Underhill makes a great substitute for the usual low-flow spray nozzles (just turn the valve partway closed and you'll get a solid high-volume spray), but the Dramm is 20% cheaper and should be fine (assuming they send you a good copy) if you want to save a few. One caution: Both the Dramm and the Underhill are heavy.

This ball valve is solid. The operation is simple and easy to use. The lever is larger than many other choices in this type of valve, but it is smooth and sturdy. Since this is solid brass + stainless steel, it is heavier than the smaller or plastic options, but the feel is great. There have been no drips or leaks.

I have some of these fort 15+, years and they still work like new. Absolute units. Full flow.

A relatively expensive but well made valve. Smooth action & noticeably higher flow rate compared with many smaller orificed garden hose valves.

Purchased as a quick shut-off/on for the side of a backyard hose-reel. The valve itself is of excellent quality. Water flow stops/starts with ease and the lever operates smoothly. The issue I have with this valve is that it's made from leaded brass (contains lead). This fact wasn't anywhere to be found in the Amazon listing. The only reason I discovered this is because the packaging listed the State of California warning. Would not have purchased if I'd known it was leaded brass. Returning.
