Great book. We will be using it for a Science project on petroleum engineering.

I read this book to my children (11, 9,7) as part of a Texas History curriculum. We really enjoyed the history, from the 100 ft. avalanche of oil and the capping of the mighty well to the boomtown that grew up almost overnight and the need for new markets for this "black gold". The book also discusses the early refining of the oil for use in the new "horseless carriages". Packed with pictures and interesting information, this book will entertain and inform you about the beginnings of the oil boom in Texas.
