They do the job, and do it well.
I had bought a couple of these Acomdata hard drive enclosures years ago (the model which had both PATA and SATA connections inside) so when I saw the deal for these new external cases WITH USB 3.0 card, I had to jump on it. They are easy to set up and work like a champ.

My first batch I bought worked great. The second batch I bought did not
Some of these units support drives 2TB, others do not. It is a hit or miss. Same model! My first batch I bought worked great. The second batch I bought did not. A Western Digital 2TB showed up as 14904.13GB. When you tried to format you would get error "Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)." I put the same drive in the first batch I bought (identical unit) no problem. All of my 2TB hard drives do the same thing.

Compatibilty, Function and Build Quality is Terrible! Just spend 5 more bucks and get the far superior iDsonix USB 3.0 enclosure
This enclosure has been a major headache since i got it. Setting it up is pretty tedious and it wouldn't work at all with one of my 1TB drives on top of that. I had to take the hard drive out of my far superior iDsonix enclosure and swap them. My iDsonix USB 3.0 enclosure can use both drives perfectly fine though... Just like another reviewer here mentioned, the drive it ''works'' with won't even detect at all when inserted into USB 3.0 ports! What is the point of a USB 3.0 enclosure that doesn't even detect in USB 3.0 ports?! I would literally be far better off with a cheaper USB 2.0 enclosure because at least that would still function as a USB 2.0 drive in a USB 3.0 port! I guess I'm spoiled because the iDsonix drive I bought prior to this is built like a tank, has an extremely fast and easy tool-free setup and last but not least... it actually functions just like a USB 3.0 enclosure should! Although the build quality definitely has room for improvement, I actually do appreciate aesthetic aspects about it such as its sleekness, the LED in the front and the power switch. Haven't tried the USB 3.0 PCI card but Its a shame that the enclosure functions so poorly. People in the market for both a USB 3.0 enclosure and a USB 3.0 PCI card would have found this a awesome package deal for $15.

PCI USB 3.0 controller works great
The first one I received didn't have the PCI card in the box. It was returned per Amazon's usual no-hassle process. The replacement did have the card. It installed under Windows 10, not requiring any 3rd party driver, as Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller. One of the reasons I got this enclosure was to get a new USB controller since my motherboard USB 3.0 seems to have many device conflicts. A dozen devices and three USB hubs have installed without any errors or problems. The enclosure worked fine with a 2TB drive. One of the reasons for the good price, currently $16.95, is that the manufacturer is defunct, so don't expect any help from the 3-year warranty.

Great Product at a wonderful price!
This works like a charm! Just as advertised & so easy to use. The USB 3.0 PCI card was a nice bonus to add more functionality to my older Dell Optiplex 380 that I just added more RAM & upgraded to Windows 10 64 bit!

easy to install drive into. printed instructions included that were accurate and in readable english. solid feeling once re-assembled. so far, quiet and not vibrating. I'll buy this again, when or if I need another enclosure.

Read the reviews first
Would have been a great product if it actually ran at USB 3.0 speed. I ordered two of these and tried connecting both to 3 different computers with USB 3 to no avail, all computers would only see it as a USB 2.0 device. Very disappointing.
